The combination of voices is what I find most grating. I'm not totally sure why though.

vocals are a big part of X's appeal obv. when they're tense and revved up it's a nice sweet/sour combo (e.g. "johnny hit and run pauline") but they lean on their caterwauling too much, it's a sound that doesn't work in all contexts. and if you can't dig their goth shitkicker harmonies at all it's a dealbreaker.

I was a huge soundgarden fan & at the time I felt like Superunknown was just pulling away too far from what they'd already done. I saw their reunion show last year & was forced to admit there's a ton of songs on Superunknown that I love. Just not BHS or goddamn Spoonman.

That being said, Cornell *is* kind of a douche. I totally understand hating him. See: Billy fucking Jean. If it weren't for the Soundgarden reunion he'd be a judge on The Voice by now, I'm sure of it.

Kim Thayil will always, always be an awesome straightup dude.

Y eclipses it and has a better production but it's still a great album. 'forces of oppression' would be in my top 5 pop group tracks.

can I confess I never recognized what's on the cover of the land of r+h until I read the wiki entry, and I owned the album

3rd best ministry album. glad it made it.

I remember being super into "Every Day (Is Halloween)", "All Day", "The Nature of Love" and "Over The Shoulder" when I saw LORAH had come out; I convinced my mom to buy it for me because it was dancey pop music. I put the cassette into the car stereo as we left the mall and both of us boggled at "Stigmata". I had to swear up and down that I had no idea that the album would sound anything like what was coming out of the speakers. Mom made me eject the cassette when "The Missing" started and I was super pissed off about being cheated out of my sardonic dance beats for about a week, at which point I played the whole album and found the electronics I was looking for on the second side.

I didn't properly see the dead corpse image on the cover for about 5 years and I didn't decipher the "Sieg! Heil!" chant in the title track until earlier this year.

I love this album but in retrospect it's pretty clear that this is where Ministry started moving away from their strengths and moving more towards Al's ranty drug habit.

FUCK YES! Can't believe that made it in after so long!
