and I fucking love the Bad Seeds in that era
still kinda violent and almost explosive and the quiet stuff they did was always menacing even when it was tender

Feel like a lot of things from this list I would have ended up getting into if I hadn't drifted into dancey stuff when I did. Think at some point I just got sick of the sound of guitars and needed a break (perhaps some others on here can relate?).

The Sounds' From The Lions Mouth was my #16. I closely associate them with Comsat Angels as underrated post-punk bands, both reissued by Renascent a decade ago. Highly recommend them.
Your Funeral is my favorite Nick Cave album that's not The Birthday Party. Remember his scene in the movie Wings Of Desire?

Dustbowl is all time for me, but I'm probably the highest placed voter. I'm guessing that means LP will show up soon, as I'd guess it will have pretty much the same voters.

"For Want of" was the only thing that ever really stuck with me from that Rites of Spring album but maybe I should listen to it again.

I didn't listen to spiderland for a long time cause after hearing tweez I wrote off slint as a sub-bastro xerox of chi-town post-rock

ha yeah, i had zero expectations for spiderland after having bought tweez on squirrel bait grounds. think my reaction to tweez was along the lines of 'these guys are no bitch magnet'

so far this is a completely ridiculous poll that i give my full support to, if only because it's making me go back and finally rip certain CDs to my hard drive, after letting them languish in storage for god knows how long.
