Dinosaur is the only one of the first three I haven't heard. I always kind of expect it would be my favorite.

alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 18:27 (thirteen years ago)

Of those big three Cult albums, Love is the only one I really like all the way through. Southern Death Cult stuff is cool though.

I have a couple friends who are huge fan of 80s Death records, but I wouldn't be able to tell you which ones they like the best.

alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 19:58 (thirteen years ago)

I would recommend that record, it's really good.

Sweet!

shoot mama i hopes we gets some nuclear assault soon, otherwise there's no chance it'll have made it higher.
how'd mars place so high? that really does not rock.
NB "five fingers, four thingers.." was the first stretchheads LP, not the second. richie dempsey on drums swung the first like a tetsuo-jackhammer-gene krupa. as good as "pish.." was, jason boyce was left with the unenviable task of following in mr dempseys makepeace, and glynis barber bananarama.
i'll disagree w/ ed3 here & say DFH's finest are the first two IMO they lost an ineffable weirdness and initial effervesence as they went on to become a more "solid" folky-politico-jitterfunk-shamblers

Ice cream wearing motherfucker.

The size of album cover is proportional to how much I care about Fugazi...

Frobisher the (Viceroy), Sunday, 30 September 2012 20:43 (thirteen years ago)

The first thing I ever got by Fugazi (on cassette, when I was 15). A great EP imo.

Not many seem around so unsure whether to continue tonight or not.

Thanks for the recap sund4r.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 30 September 2012 20:57 (thirteen years ago)

it has to be done sooner or later, AG. No sense in procrastinating :)

alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:02 (thirteen years ago)

just crank 'em out, man. the glacial pace may be dampening the enthusiasm (such as it is).

Hellhouse, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:03 (thirteen years ago)

we have plenty of time plus it's not fair to do more if noones around.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:04 (thirteen years ago)

if you guys commented on each album then i guess i'd consider it

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:04 (thirteen years ago)

...

seems to me, the more you draw it out, the more you risk losing people's interest entirely

that said, Sunday is not an ideal to do any kind of poll-running at all. I understand that.

alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:07 (thirteen years ago)

"...an ideal time..."

alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:08 (thirteen years ago)

the pickings have been a little on the slim side today. take it to 150!

Hellhouse, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:08 (thirteen years ago)

most do stop for the weekend but i'll carry on as long as theres posts I guess

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:08 (thirteen years ago)

I'm around and enjoying following the rollout, though obviously can't offer much in the way of comments for albums which I've never heard before (which is a lot of them so far). Just do it at whatever speed you feel like.

I still think you just do it, and let people comment whenever they feel. It will be alright. We're still digging it even if we can't think of something to say for every album

alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:10 (thirteen years ago)

the first day you dropped 100 recs. no shortage of commentary, then. now it seems we're stuck in one of Zeno's paradoxes. I'll be dead before this finishes!

I'm still digging through albums from the list that have caught my eye btw. Got Nitzer Ebb- Showtime on at the moment and although I could do without some of the vocals, overall I'm enjoying it. Lightning Man is a tune I can see myself coming back to a lot. In general I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of this list well after the poll has finished, it just takes a while to get through things.
Hoping Milo Goes To College shows up soon (or else I suspect it won't show up at all).

chewed postcard to robert smith (Mr Andy M), Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:18 (thirteen years ago)

list is very canonical today. any marginal cult recs on deck? or are we through w/those?

Hellhouse, Sunday, 30 September 2012 21:19 (thirteen years ago)

Sorry, I'm not able to stay on puter all day on Sundays, but I do check in when I can. That just missed my top 50, and listening to it again, maybe it should have made it. Brilliant album. I never imagined I would ever get to see them live, which made their reunion show at the Touch & Go 25th Anniversary thing so cool. If anything, Yow seemed more demented and scary than he ever was with Jesus Lizard.

Megadeth > Motley Crue > Bathory > Blind Idiot God > Voivod > Death > Cult > Metallica > Sepultura

^^^

this is like one of those early-90s tours, when alt. rock and metal bands were being pushed onto the same bills. didn't quite see this level of eclecticism in the 80s, though.

Megadeth over Shout At the Devil

jeez guys

Will dip in a bit for comments - Sunday is football day so I'm not really as attentive as I could be. But the raiders stink so I'm teaching them a lesson rn

yeah, w/the right audience, the whole sequence of metal recs today would be good f/a clusterfuck bloodbath. I'm just amazed Blind Idiot God is smack in the middle of the list.
