I normally steer people towards "all the pretty little horses" wrt current 93, but it's kind of hard to pick one because (like nww) they are all over the place album to album

((xp to Sund4r) Veterans, Burnin, and After Dark are p much the only tracks I come back to from FoUO, but I rep for almost every song on CE: Monsters (one of my favorite BOC songs), Hungry Boys (beating QOTSA's Go with the Flow to the motorik-metal punch by at least a couple decades), Deadline (grisly horror story set to soft rock settings, coulda been a stand out on FoUO imo), Black Blade (when I was a kid, I thought this song was a big influence on NIN), Lips of the Hills, Fallen Angel, Divine Wind, etc
I totally think that this one of those AOR/metal albums that deserves to be reclaimed by punk, even though there are some serious chops on display

Do punk rock people still have an anti-chops stance?
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 30 September 2012 00:56 (thirteen years ago)
Are there still punk rock people?
lol good point

― alpha flighticles (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 30 September 2012 01:04 (thirteen years ago)
fuck, this is also great. starts and ends in v. mild fashion, but stuffed between the ambling is five minutes of fried guitar blizz dropping needles-in-reverb runs of ravishing expansion. v. excellent.

Not sure if there's enough posters around tonight to take it down to 201.
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 30 September 2012 01:13 (thirteen years ago)
ok since noones around to post I'll see you guys tomorrow afternoon. Hope you all enjoyed the countdown today. I'm not tired though so I could've carried on but I've been neglecting Fifa 13 so I reckon I might just play that.
sund4r will post the recap when he's ready.

Throb Throb is a great record. I was just listening to it.
Anyways, I have three albums that i cant imagine making it higher than 210 that I really liked but I'll withhold what they are for a little while longer, just in case

Cows' Daddy Has a Tail isn't on Spotify, and I wanted to post a couple of deliriously fucked tracks a couple of days ago:
Cows - Chow: http://youtu.be/uY8uoVKS3dACows - Sugar: http://youtu.be/KHX8JCaXXJg
blasting scuzz-rock w/a sonic density that smashes down a cliff of industrial racket.

ha, this should read:
re: Fushitsusha Live I:
the Sepultura is also cool, but not particularly mild.
― Hellhouse, Sunday, 30 September 2012 03:00 (thirteen years ago)
there's like a half-minute of mildness to start off the first track

I voted for Walk Together, Rock Together - mainly out of nostalgia but I would still say the title track and We're Gonna Fight are classics of their kind. Finally started listening to the albums I said I was going to listen to. The Plastmatics album is great trashy fun, wouldn't want to listen to it all the time but they're very good at what they do, reminds me just a wee bit of the Tubes. DAF up next. :)

^OK, have already got serious love for Co Co Pino from Die Kleinen und die Bosen. Osten Wahrt Am Langsten also excellent. Can see myself delving more deeply into EBM in the future. Please excuse the livebloggin'...

i've still got my treasured Cows ,Hangman, F-ck T shirt.I might put it on and embrace the day
The Crew was 7 Seconds best. I had never heard anything like it at the time.
Same goes for Squirrel Bait ^. Their first LP was a stunner. And the follow up, Skag Heaven was decent.Have a look at the group's family tree.
Other props to Angry Samoans, Drunks With Guns, Didgets. ....
oh God, this hangover.

glad to see both the eligible dog faced hermans albums placing, and in the right order. the debut is a bracing jolt of jittery antics. although they are nothing alike bandwise, the guitar on this reminds me of east bay ray from the DKs, savage quasi-surf slashing from the bottomless depths of a fender reverb tank.
every day timebomb is a big step forward in terms of their sound, a more mature & assured sounding record, but the tunes aren't very memorable. the closer, "live action" is as good as any of their later high points, tho:
http://youtu.be/6ld7xl0Sq8c
if you've never heard them, hum of life or those deep buds are better entry points.
― space dokken (Edward III), Sunday, 30 September 2012 13:39 (thirteen years ago)
Saw Mission Of Burma last night in keeping with the spirit of this poll, though they were stingy with the oldies this time, no "Revolver," "Academy Fight Song," "Learn How." Also re-listening to some Neubauten.
I finally watched You Weren't There via Netflix about the Chicago punk scene. Throb Throb is considered a peak, though I think I prefer Jettison. Some of the early Effigies stuff is just as good. The doc is worth seeing if you have any interest in that scene. Also interesting to be reminded of the exact locations of the old clubs, like O'Banion's at 661 N. Clark, La Mere Vipere at 2132 N. Halsted and Oz at 3714 N. Broadway, now a Chase bank, sigh.

that first Dinosaur has grown on me over the years. i like thinking of them as not changing the album title after the band name change, so that instead of being self-titled i consider it to be Dinosaur by Dinosaur Jr.

shoot mama i hopes we gets some nuclear assault soon, otherwise there's no chance it'll have made it higher.how'd mars place so high? that really does not rock.NB "five fingers, four thingers.." was the first stretchheads LP, not the second. richie dempsey on drums swung the first like a tetsuo-jackhammer-gene krupa. as good as "pish.." was, jason boyce was left with the unenviable task of following in mr dempseys makepeace, and glynis barber bananarama.i'll disagree w/ ed3 here & say DFH's finest are the first two IMO they lost an ineffable weirdness and initial effervesence as they went on to become a more "solid" folky-politico-jitterfunk-shamblers
