Three awesome covers on the trot there but I think (out and can't check my vote) I voted for both the EN and Venom which is weird.

AG was asking me about EN and I said Haus Der Luge is really the transition where you begin to hear the bits which are more influenced by Blixa's time in the Bad Seeds more, in other words a jumping on point for people.

heard an unfamiliar Queensryche song on the local hard rock station's lunchtime 'hairball' block the other day, sounded more like Gated Drum Zep than Whitesnake

I like prog, love metal, so I tried way too hard to like that album over the years. I think it's the vocals that I can't deal with, because I can certainly stomach extremely dorky, earnest lyrics.

If you don't like Tate's voice, you should probably avoid Queensryche altogether because much (but def not all) of their appeal lies in the vocal chops. Mindcrime was #7 on my ballot.
