OI! You are not allowed to post as just "Kate". That is me. THERE IS NO OTHER KATE BUT ME. Pick an initial or something. That's it, I'm registering. Identity theft has got to me. And for something as DISGUSTING AND DEPRAVED as being a DMB fan. Ick! Ick! I feel unclean!

kate, Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

This will NEVER happen again. I am the only Kate. Me. ME, I tell you. So HAH!

kate (kate), Thursday, 5 June 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Would I be out of order to get on the Admin thread and ask for an initial to be placed after that INTERLOPER's name to avoid the identity theft issue?

I mean, christ, post porn, stroke Calz' cock, I mean, ego - ANYTHING - under my name, but do NOT accuse me of being a DMB fan.

kate (kate), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When I saw that posting i honestly thought it was kate confessing to being a DMB fan. Luckily she pointed it out. I would too be interested in seeing what bands everyone here is into. Is there a thread that could be linked to? im sure such thread must exist.

Franklin Ambrose (Franklin Ambrose), Thursday, 5 June 2003 16:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Did any of the DMB fans stick around?

Franklin Ambrose (Franklin Ambrose), Thursday, 5 June 2003 16:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I had no idea our Kate liked the Dave Matthews band! It just goes to show you that dronerock fans aren't so closed-minded as people make themm out to be. Good on you, Kate, for being so forthright, even if it did take you a couple of months!

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Thursday, 5 June 2003 17:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Good news for all us DMB fans.
"DMB's Tinsley Begins Solo Journey

After years of toying with the idea, Dave Matthews Band violinist Boyd Tinsley tells Billboard.com the decision to record his Bama Rags/RCA solo debut album "True Reflections," due June 17, basically came down to, "Why not?"

"There was a point a couple of years ago where I said, 'Man, I'm just going to do it,'" says Tinsley. "This album is just a natural extension of who I am as a musician and really a natural extension of the Dave Matthews Band, too. For me, it was just an individual journey to just open up a whole other world of music that I hadn't really explored before, like songwriting and singing. The whole experience has just made me a better musician."

Longtime DMB fans will recognize the title track, which Tinsley he wrote prior to joining the band in 1991. It has been a DMB concert staple ever since. Considering the song's history, Tinsley says there was little debate about asking Matthews himself to contribute vocals to the track.

However, Matthews is the only DMB member on Tinsley's disc. For the other material on the 11-song album, Tinsley spent the past year writing (and co-writing with guitarist/songwriter Chris Bruce) and recording. Joining him in the studio were guests Lisa Germano, Doyle Bramhall II, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Corey Harris, among others.

After DMB's summer tour wraps in September, Tinsley plans on hitting the road in support of "True Reflections" with as many of his studio musicians as possible.

"We're just going to have fun -- we've never had a chance to play this music live before," says Tinsley. "And when you play songs live, they continue to grow and evolve and get stronger and better. So, I'm just looking forward to seeing how these songs are going to develop on the road."

Solo projects are a running theme in the DMB camp these days. As previously reported, Matthews' "Some Devil" will be released in the fall. While he hasn't heard the disc yet, Tinsley believes frequent DMB contributor Tim Reynolds is "probably heavily involved."

Hi Lynn good to see you saw the board and came here to defend DMB. You orgot to mention Dave has a solo album coming too!

"Dave Matthews Band : Name Your Reasons Why They Are So Bad & Hated."
How can a band be hated if millions buy their albums and go to their concerts? Are U2/Beatles/Bowie/Led Zep bad & hated in your parallel universe too?
As for listening only to bands on major labels, whats up with that? Being on a label is irrelevent to the actual music.

How can a band be hated if millions buy their albums and go to their concerts?

I like imagining that in Josie's universe she hates nothing, since someone else somewhere probably loves it. A very trusting and open-minded soul.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 02:13 (twenty-three years ago)

it's called 'empathy' ned

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 6 June 2003 02:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Bah! You WOULD have empathy!

It's a damn scary universe. I can think of other things i'd much prefer in an alternative universe and it wouldnt include DMB or Coldplay.

Franklin Ambrose (Franklin Ambrose), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:50 (twenty-three years ago)

good on ya kate!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 June 2003 07:40 (twenty-three years ago)

ADMIN!!! AAAAAADMIN!!!

Make them stop teasing me.

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 07:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Everyone is sooooo jealous because they are no talent assholes! Dave could out-play and out-write any of you. So why is it that you hate them?--because of jealousy!

Scott Diesel, Friday, 6 June 2003 12:32 (twenty-three years ago)

again, that hippie jig he does with his foot needs to stop.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:40 (twenty-three years ago)

jealousy??????

um...no. i'd like his money, and that's where it ends.
i don't think i could live with myself knowing that a couple thousand date-rapes occurred to/because of my music...
ok, maybe that's a bit far fetched, but, you get the point. if i'm jealous of anything about dave's, it's his bank account. period.

onto the better fish that need fryin-

ahem,
it was stated before, no taste. that's how. the mindless asses that make up the record buying public account for 7/8 of the industry. no accounting for tastes, i suppose...
btw- the beatles...OVER-RATED.
zep- good, to a point then start backsliding.
U2- ditto. but, please, none of the mid 80's U2. damn those overly political stances...
bowie- can't slag a man that keeps contemporary. even at his worst, he's still a far cry better than most ever get. including DAVE.

for those that just skip the top of this post, here's reader's digest version...
DMB STILL BLOWS BAGS OF DICK THROUGH THE SACK.
case closed, holmes.

eded, Friday, 6 June 2003 14:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Scott are you Vin's brother? If so, thats way cool.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:34 (twenty-three years ago)

because of jealousy!

How can I be jealous of something I think is shit?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

How can I turn my face into a heart?

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

For a group of people who have a supposed love for music, how dare you put down a group of musicians for displaying their talent? Nobody ever said you have to listen to them or even like them so why all the bitching? Besides the only way you would even know about his "hippie foot jig" is if you went to a concert or watched a video; if you don't like, turn it off! You are are sitting here on a website, spending your time talking about a band you hate. In my opinion, Dave is an incredible artist and musician, backed up by a group of amazing musicians. Who are you to judge? Just because it is not your specific taste in music that in no way makes their music bad. He has his own style, which has become rare in the industry. Dave Matthews Band fans do not only listen to Hootie and the Counting Crows. I am an avid fan of DMB, but still listen to many other bands/groups. My taste in music is very diverse and does not stop at Dave. --- In a world where hate, racism and violence are everyday occurances, it is nice to know of a band who promotes the exact opposite. It's the closed minded individuals who do not recognize it. To be honest, I am glad some of you are not fans, it would ruin the whole dynamic of it all. Some of guys are so arrogant!

Danielle, Friday, 6 June 2003 14:45 (twenty-three years ago)

this is going to be a long a beautiful day.

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:48 (twenty-three years ago)

You said that right.

how dare you put down a group of musicians for displaying their talent?

Precisely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:52 (twenty-three years ago)

You need to stop the hatin' on Dave. DMB are a terrifially talented band who write great songs, play their instruments well , sing with passion and write about important issues. You 'music fans' here can keep your alternative rock rubbish like Nirvana , Pearl jam , Sonic Youth and Pixies and leave the genius of real music like Dave Matthews to the millions of real music fans worldwide. Thats why they've sold millions of albums and gigs sell out instantly.

Tina R, Friday, 6 June 2003 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Also why do some people keep going on about regular date rapes while listening to dave? Wheres the evidence to back this up?

Tina T, Friday, 6 June 2003 15:08 (twenty-three years ago)

As a wise man once said, 50,000,000 Elvis fans can't be wrong. And I'll bet very few of those Elvis fans like DMB, hence we are just following the hive mind.

You 'music fans' here can keep your alternative rock rubbish like Nirvana , Pearl jam , Sonic Youth and Pixies and leave the genius of real music like Dave Matthews to the millions of real music fans worldwide.

That's the idea, I think.

Dave M. (rotten03), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:13 (twenty-three years ago)

How insecure are you people in your fandom of DMB that you have to come here and write these rants, anyway? Do you go around telling everyone you know about them?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Hippies.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:17 (twenty-three years ago)

everyone knows Dave Matthews is ripping off Dewey Bunnell - write your own songs Dave!!!

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought that above post by Danielle was by "Darnielle," and read it all in a totally sarcastic tone.

And no, I don't go around telling everone I know about them. Their fan base is large enough that we don't need to recruit. Oh and by the way, at least I have the balls to post my name- NA. It's Danielle, not Darnielle. I don't care what tone you read my post in, just as long as you get the point, which I doubt.

Danielle, Friday, 6 June 2003 16:30 (twenty-three years ago)

you really hit that submit one a few times there.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

thats because we're not Tripping Billies.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I fell asleep at a Dave Matthews Band concert in Cincinnati once. I was awakened by a group of fraternity boys drunkenly shout-chanting "SHOW YR TITS! SHOW YR TITS!". The girls obliged.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Frat Boys, beer, tits, Dave Matthews Band...its like peanut butter and jelly.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

nick you have awful taste. I mean, just what the hell were you doing at a dave matthews gig?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Do any of you actually go to college?

Danielle, Friday, 6 June 2003 16:44 (twenty-three years ago)

nick you have awful taste. I mean, just what the hell were you doing at a dave matthews gig?

falling asleep, apparently.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Frat Boys, beer, tits, Dave Matthews Band...its like peanut butter and jelly.
More like generic peanut butter and KY jelly.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

ho ho sterling. ho ho...

''Do any of you actually go to college?''

making assumptions now are we?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

There's the answer we're looking for. "College band"

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:51 (twenty-three years ago)

My friend Ryan bought me a ticket to that concert in exchange for me driving his not-having-a-driver's-license-at-20-years-old ass up there. Bela Fleck & the Flecktones opened up the show, they were fucking OUTSTANDING as always. I got really high when DMB came on. I kinda enjoyed their drummer's solo, and I saw tittehs.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:56 (twenty-three years ago)

But yes it's true I have awful taste. My being at a DMB concert, howevah, was unrelated to my bad taste. My owning Ani DiFranco albums is.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

from an alternative universe....
"Dafe Mettyews Bend iss Guut, Ja? Now iss the time on Schprockets vere ve Jam."
(*Deiter starts doing a watery hippie-dippy dance* while Phish plays on in the background*)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Lord custos was that a 'college boy' joke?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 June 2003 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Danielle - my post about your name was not an insult, it was a reference to a regular ILX poster.

I went to a college here in Virginia, so of course, DMB was extremely popular there. This omnipresence is one of the main reasons why people hate him so much.
