when death won't solve your problem is a compilation of singles and album cuts, good place to start with no trend. "teen love" was their uh "hit" but the rest is blithering-rage postpunk, like if you dropped the passive from metal box-era PiL's passive-aggressiveness.

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 27 September 2012 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

so much to answer for

Suck on This is a live album by the band Primus, released in 1989. At the time of recording, the featured lineup of bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim Alexander had only been playing together for "about two months".[1] This along with Jane's Addiction's self titled live album, are seen as popularizing the then underground alternative metal genre, which in turn spawned nu metal & inspired the groove metal genre.[2]

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)

the definition of fuckshit bird (some dude), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:08 (thirteen years ago)

:D I have a feeling I put it fairly low down though, so maybe not quite cool enough

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:10 (thirteen years ago)

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:19 (thirteen years ago)

dunno that one

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

i got confused when trying to vote for misfits albums because i just listen to the box set all the time so i never remember which ones are which.

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

That's just a British EP with a few songs off the 70s singles.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)

I just listen to the Misfits compilation, jjj otm misfits albums are totally confusing to me

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)

I get the feeling that those who lived through the decade and were into the music at the time are voting for different stuff to those of us who were old enough to grow up in the 80s but were unaware of that stuff at the time who are voting for different albums from those who did notgrow up in the 80s.

but it sure makes a fun but odd poll.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)

xpost yeah I think that's why I didn't vote for Sonic Youth in the tracks poll, because I don't really associate them with the 80s personally, because I came into them in the 90s. I mean, I came into stuff like Maiden way later but they sort of feel 80's to me.
I think it's very subjective, AG otm

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

I sort of feel like we're rifling through a giant bargain bin at the record store right now, lol

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

the best damn bargain bin ever then

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:34 (thirteen years ago)

I have this album but obviously had never even heard of sonny sharrock in the 80s. I first heard of him cuz he worked with laswell and some pfunkers.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

400? Bloody hell..

Mr Andy M, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

yeah pretenders -> misfits -> sonny sharrock is a pretty cool bin to be in

space dokken (Edward III), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

ha i first heard of sonny sharrock because of him doing the space ghost: coast to coast theme on adult swim

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:38 (thirteen years ago)

There's obv no way I'm going to get anywhere near to listening to all of these, but I'll give the Plasmatics and DAF albums a go as those are both acts that I've been meaning to properly investigate for a while now.
Even though I'm not the biggest Replacements fan overall Sorry Ma does feel a bit too low.

Mr Andy M, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

Andy M you will love it

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:39 (thirteen years ago)

pretenders is a pretty good album, "tattooed love boys" is my jam. woulda voted for it but had to make room for all these butthole surfers records.

space dokken (Edward III), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

Everyone has all the time in the world to check these albums out. It's not a race.
And if you see them in a bargain bin you might just pick some out and go "wow" when you hear them.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

If you see that Misfits record in a bargain bin go "wow" and stick it on Ebay.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:41 (thirteen years ago)

misfits collectors pay crazy money

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

I've seen a misfits 7" sell for $10,000on eBay

Algerian Goalkeeper, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

Damned - Black Album I remember as being kind of a mess but my memory may be faulty.

Sorry Ma, Forgot To Bring In The Katz (Mr Andy M), Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:43 (thirteen years ago)

xpost was that the one that claimed to come with some of Danzig's snot?

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 27 September 2012 16:43 (thirteen years ago)

I nommed the misfits' beware but didn't vote for it. it's pretty good as far as an overview of their early stuff goes.

1. "We Are 138" 1:40
2. "Bullet" 1:37
3. "Hollywood Babylon" 2:17
4. "Attitude" 1:28
5. "Horror Business" 2:42
6. "Teenagers from Mars" 2:41
7. "Last Caress"
