yeah I had no idea ILM had such a spacemen 3 hard-on, and those are not standout tracks imo. where are "walking with jesus", "rollercoaster", "take me to the other side" etc.
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:32 (thirteen years ago)
As bad as this will sound, I'd never really listened to them before I went through the noms list to put together my ballot, but my feeling is that they are the best at what they do.Obv it helps a lot that I'm into the reference points (Elevators, Stooges) but more than that heavy, tranced-out pysch is something I've always been into as an idea but found a lot of the actual examples not quite satisfying in how they were executed. Spacemen 3 really nailed it.

^Very poorly worded but I'm thinking/typing in a hurry.

― billstevejim, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:37 (thirteen years ago)
not a fan of dokken, but a space jam style #1 placing for "dream warriors" would be about the best thing ever

― This Is Nilbog, We Do What We Like (Mr Andy M), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:45 (thirteen years ago)
I don't get the Spacemen 3 love either, and was only a casual fan bitd.
― passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:45 (thirteen years ago)
ok this top rollout continues to be loaded with surprises for me, did not expect to see a gun club song either
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:46 (thirteen years ago)
Sexbeat - yeah!
― stirmonster, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:46 (thirteen years ago)
The only Gun Club song I kind of like is Texas Serenade.
― _Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:49 (thirteen years ago)
But Sex Beat is okay.
I never expected Into The Crypt Of Rays to be this high.
― passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:49 (thirteen years ago)
spacemen 3 important in the late 80s when a bunch of bands I loved either started sucking or broke up (swans, butthole surfers, sonic youth, scratch acid, big black), S3 + skullflower + getting my hands on psychedelics well you know how it goes in college
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:50 (thirteen years ago)
looking at the list of nominated tracks at this point would ruin my enjoyment. this list keeps suprising me and I like it that way
― gospodin simmel, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 17:51 (thirteen years ago)
I just looked at it again and can only think of about 4 things that are left that could have got enough votes, plus whatever's left for SY and Husker Du.
