bad jjj
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago)
they should remix lana del rey
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)
really everything you actually want to get of The Cult can be satisfied by "Rain", there's no real need to listen to anything else they did aside from maybe poking around Southern Death Cult to satisfy goth curiosity
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)
jjj sounds vaguely like The Lex there.
― passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)
is rain an instrumental?
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)
I know this observation is so ancient as to be useless but the version of envoye by young gods in the spotify playlist is not any version of the song I've ever heard and is not to be mistaken for the buttshaking awesomeness of what me and I'm sure everybody else voted for

― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)
Actually Dan I kind of disagree. The Death Cult ep is probably all you need, unless you want to listen to SDC.
― passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:03 (thirteen years ago)
if one of your too high moments was the cult song i have a high five hanging right over here for you*furtively completes the high five, goes back to keeping it positive*

28 AC/DC - Back in Black 818 Points, 14 Votes One# 1 http://youtu.be/CwIvBNsSywQ
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:04 (thirteen years ago)
you should listen to it and find out!
that is certainly a legitimate argument; I think "Rain" is the point where Cult glossiness and SDC/DC gothiness balance each other best and as such scratches all the itches I might have for them in one handy package
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:05 (thirteen years ago)
yes! i knew asbestos had some ILM love but the further this went on the more i thought it might not place.
― stirmonster, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:05 (thirteen years ago)
this actually reminds me, did we nominate Gene Loves Jezebel for this
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:06 (thirteen years ago)
back in black permanently ruined for me by the fact that a certain former ilxor used to plug $5 into the jukebox at the red dragon and play it like 28 times in a row whenever he got to a certain point of drunk.
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:06 (thirteen years ago)
haha that is classic

that is not a critique of the song really, more an indictment of our lifestyle choices i guess
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:07 (thirteen years ago)
awesome, my least favorite spacemen 3 song. and world domination enterprises is some poncey shite.

SUGGEST BAN
― passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:11 (thirteen years ago)
I am listening to "Jesus Shootin' Heroin" right now and holy shit do I hate The Flaming Lips
3 minutes of meandering whiny sludge leading to the most unconvincing climax ever, then an unconvincing guitar solo followed by more whining
fuck this
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:11 (thirteen years ago)
ok "the rain" is also incredibly terrible. this is not a band for me.
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:12 (thirteen years ago)
haha I can't believe you listened to "Rain"
SUCCESS
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:13 (thirteen years ago)
"jesus shooting heroin" is not the track I would've chosen from that album
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:13 (thirteen years ago)
dan do you like the replacements? if so "everythings exploding" might be a way in for the flaming lips.
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:14 (thirteen years ago)
I voted for Losing Touch With My Mind but surprised to see any of the Spacemen 3 noms getting this high.
― This Is Nilbog, We Do What We Like (Mr Andy M), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:15 (thirteen years ago)
I fucking despise The Replacements aside from "Within Your Reach"
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:15 (thirteen years ago)
The Replacements: Classic or Dud?
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:16 (thirteen years ago)
i dig them, but you def have to be choosy because theres a lot of kitchen sink missteps between moments of greatness
xpost haha well then. replacements lost me after tim, so i get it

YES to pay to cum
listening to that atm and realizing that i should clarify my comment abt messiness wrt the bad brains - the thing thats thrilling (yes i really mean that!) abt the bad brains is that they always sound like they are on the edge of total trainwreck. its one of the few bands from the hardcore scene where you can really tell that they are playing at the very limit of their considerable abilities all the fucking time, as opposed to just claiming to do so.
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)
At this point songs you expected to make it might not, some you didn't expect might still. So make yer predictions as we are about to enter the top #25
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)
I do not get "edge of a trainwreck" vibes from Bad Brains at all really; I get "massively aggressive while not forgetting about tunes"
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:26 (thirteen years ago)
PAY TO CUM YES YES YES.
― This Is Nilbog, We Do What We Like (Mr Andy M), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:27 (thirteen years ago)

Pay to Cum is great but I love Banned in DC more tbh. Probably shoulda said something when that placed
― did drake invent yolo (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:34 (thirteen years ago)
the only single version of "pay to cum" I can find on youtube sounds like the uploader held a mic to his stereo speaker to record it

brian johnson eh
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)
bon scott 4eva
I remember being appreciative but lukewarm on Joy Division until I heard "Dead Souls", which really made everything else they did click into place for me; such a great, great song
I would not have placed it any higher than this, though
― cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)
xpost Yeah Back in Black feels like a top 10 tune to me. But I didn't rank my ballot so...
― This Is Nilbog, We Do What We Like (Mr Andy M), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:43 (thirteen years ago)
speaking of Bon Scott stand-ins, i'm now sad that Accept's "Balls To The Wall" didn't make the top 250
― some dude, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:45 (thirteen years ago)
oh well not every song, even ones you expect to, will make it
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:45 (thirteen years ago)
you certainly tried to fit them all!
― some dude, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 16:46 (thirteen years ago)
has there been an 80s metal tracks poll? I could def stuff a ballot w/ accept and krokus and kick axe tracks
