Citizen Smith (Jamie T Smith), Wednesday, 26 September 2012 15:47 (thirteen years ago)

Lots of great selections!

MikoMcha, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 15:59 (thirteen years ago)

i would definitely vote for 1 and maybe 4 of those.

also, can somebody confirm if it's really the original version of south street player '(who) keeps changing your mind' in the noms list and not the fresh fruit mix as i'd certainly throw a vote to the latter but not the former.

second only to popcorn (or something), Thursday, 27 September 2012 07:05 (thirteen years ago)

and who knew the original 'lfo' sounded like that? i thought the leeds warehouse mix was p much the original version, be careful of vote splits folx! vote leeds warehouse!

second only to popcorn (or something), Thursday, 27 September 2012 07:06 (thirteen years ago)

So, what does the original mix sound like? I can only find Leeds Warehouse. There is a mislabelled Seefeel track on youtube under lfo -lfo.

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 27 September 2012 08:39 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah I was confused by this. The one on the album is the Leeds Warehouse mix isn't it? Anyway, that's the one I voted for.

millmeister, Thursday, 27 September 2012 08:44 (thirteen years ago)

ah that explains it, i think i saw the mislabelled youtube. well, that's a bit of a relief. i motion that votes for either lfo-lfo or lfo-lfo(leeds warehouse mix) are considered one and the same. now, for that south street players track...

Just looking at this bit of the list:

Prodigy, The Break and Enter
Prodigy, The Charly (Alley Cat Mix)
Prodigy, The Everybody in the Place (Fairground Mix)
Prodigy, The Fire (Sunrise Version)
Prodigy, The No Good (Start the Dance)
Prodigy, The One Love
Prodigy, The Out of Space
Prodigy, The Voodoo People

Confirms Prodigy were the Nirvana of the rave generation - How am I supposed to leave any of these off??

This Is... The Police (dog latin), Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:39 (thirteen years ago)

Never realised all those Prodigy tracks started with the definite article.

ledge, Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:40 (thirteen years ago)

Looks like the "Leeds Warehouse Mix" is the original mix of "LFO", or at least I haven't been able to locate any original mix, so I'll remove the other "LFO" from the list.

Citizen Smith's nominations are valid, I'll add them to the list later today.

As for South Streer Player, this is the version D-40 nominated. I'm not familiar with the track, but it appears to be the B side of the original single, not the "Fresh Fruit Mix". I added the "Night Mix" part to its entry, as I seem to have left that out.

Tuomas, Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:49 (thirteen years ago)

Might want to conflate "Born Slippy" and "Born Slippy (Nuxx)" too.

Mark G, Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:51 (thirteen years ago)

Hey, Dog Latin, you didn't specify which version of "Fire" you wanted to nom, so I added the "Sunrise Version" aka the version on the album. But if actually meant "Burning Version" aka the first track of the single, I can change it to that.

Might want to conflate "Born Slippy" and "Born Slippy (Nuxx)" too.

They are two different tracks.

Tuomas, Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:54 (thirteen years ago)

And Algerian Goalkeeper specified he wanted to nominate the original version of Born Slippy, the Nuxx version had already nommed. That's why I added the notes to the lists, so people wouldn't think the original version is the famous one.

Tuomas, Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:56 (thirteen years ago)

It is, though. One is the 7" edit, the other runs on into the elongated drummy-bit that is "Nuxx"

Mark G, Thursday, 27 September 2012 09:58 (thirteen years ago)

No, this is the original version, released here.

Tuomas, Thursday, 27 September 2012 10:01 (thirteen years ago)

I have learned.

Mark G, Thursday, 27 September 2012 11:05 (thirteen years ago)

ah jeez...

Gat Decor - Passion

any chance? (sorry)

second only to popcorn (or something), Thursday, 27 September 2012 23:38 (thirteen years ago)

and

Sunscreem - Perfect Motion (Boys Own Mix)

second only to popcorn (or something), Thursday, 27 September 2012 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

i think i was fatigued by the 00s poll and didn't take this as seriously as i otherwise would have but now i'm feverishly trying to compile a list things keep punching me in the face.

second only to popcorn (or something), Thursday, 27 September 2012 23:43 (thirteen years ago)

Poll thread needs bump to repromote it

Mark G, Friday, 28 September 2012 06:30 (thirteen years ago)

I voted! Although the amount of Aphex, Ae and Prodigy seems to outweigh everything else.

This Is... The Police (dog latin), Friday, 28 September 2012 08:25 (thirteen years ago)

I've had some computer problems, but everything is fine now, and all the nommed tracks have been added to the list. Sorry about the delay!

And remember to vote, there's only 9 days left to cast your ballots.

Tuomas, Saturday, 29 September 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

Bump!

Tuomas, Sunday, 30 September 2012 11:06 (thirteen years ago)

Damn, I really should have waded into the nominations thread. Chemical Beats, Elektrobank and Private Psychedelic Reel aren't eligible but Morning Lemon, Lost in the K-Hole and Not Another Drugstore are?

Get wolves (DL), Monday, 1 October 2012 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

original "Born Slippy" pwns so hard

set me on fire RAAAAH (DJP), Monday, 1 October 2012 16:04 (thirteen years ago)

it does

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 1 October 2012 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

Less than a week left to vote, and I've only received 10 or so ballots. So don't forget to send yours!

Tuomas, Monday, 1 October 2012 22:06 (thirteen years ago)

I'm working on it. I've realised I can't possibly listen to everything that's been nominated. I've got a longlist of about 100 that I'm trying to edit/order. Just noticed that I forget to nominate Underworld - Cowgirl.

Mountain Excitement (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 1 October 2012 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

I need to get the 80s poll out of the way first

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 1 October 2012 22:11 (thirteen years ago)

Just sent my tracks, but the formatting was a bit weird in the e-mail. Let me know if it's unreadable.

Mountain Excitement (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 22:14 (thirteen years ago)

just realized I forgot dj deeon's house-o-matic and dave clarke's red 2

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 01:33 (thirteen years ago)

the noms is seriously lacking 90's house

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 01:53 (thirteen years ago)

still think T should have posted a compiled noms list before closing noms

┐(´ー`)┌ (sic), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 02:44 (thirteen years ago)

lots missing (i always miss the noms threads) & i'm v. late to this but still really struggling to get it anywhere near 75 tracks. just to point out, regarding house of god, DHS is the artist, not the title.

stirmonster, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 03:23 (thirteen years ago)

Actually, sorry Tuomas, I missed one track out (the Moby one that got left off your original list and I had to ask you to add it in) so I'm going to slip that in the middle and shift everything else down one place. Resending shortly...

Mountain Excitement (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 06:25 (thirteen years ago)

ballot sent. i just voted for the tracks as i never really cared about electronic albums.

stirmonster, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 12:35 (thirteen years ago)

Stirmonster, I didn't get your ballot. Are you sure you sent it to the right address? It's tuomast.alho, not tuomas.alho (the latter one was already registered when I got my Gmail address).

Tuomas, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

ah, i missed the alho. someone's going to wonder what that email was all about. hopefully you have it now.

stirmonster, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, I got it now!

Tuomas, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 14:51 (thirteen years ago)

Only four days left to vote...

Tuomas, Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:22 (thirteen years ago)

Bump! I'm kinda worried about the low amount of ballots sent so far, so I'm hoping everyone will get into it this weekend. A lot of you people nominated stuff, don't forget to vote too!

Tuomas, Friday, 5 October 2012 08:31 (thirteen years ago)

Get voting!

This Is... The Police (dog latin), Friday, 5 October 2012 08:34 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I've started but it's an intimidating exercise: 75 tracks and 25 albums...

I think I'm about halfway.

MikoMcha, Friday, 5 October 2012 08:42 (thirteen years ago)

Don't think I'll be able to get a ballot in by the deadline. I'm away from a pc for the next few days. Will try to squeeze one in on Sunday night.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Friday, 5 October 2012 09:08 (thirteen years ago)

I've been picking away at a ballot; required a bit of aural re-calibration after getting deep into the Joni Mitchell zone.

etc, Friday, 5 October 2012 09:24 (thirteen years ago)

just back from holiday and, as i can barely walk, i'm going to spend the day on the settee getting stuck into this and catching up with 'pointless' on the iplayer. bliss. probably just going to do a tracks ballot too tho, not hugely interested in an albums poll and doubt i could find 25 albums i'm enthusiastic enough about to vote for.

second only to popcorn (or something), Friday, 5 October 2012 10:49 (thirteen years ago)

i wish i'd remembered to nom Underworld - Juanita. guess i'll have to throw my weight behind Jumbo or Dark Train.

second only to popcorn (or something), Friday, 5 October 2012 10:53 (thirteen years ago)

Don't think I'll be able to get a ballot in by the deadline. I'm away from a pc for the next few days. Will try to squeeze one in on Sunday night.

Would it help if I extended the deadline to Tuesday? I probably won't manage to finish tallying the ballots on Monday anyway.

Tuomas, Friday, 5 October 2012 10:58 (thirteen years ago)

I've not had a chance to look through, and have a very busy weekend until Monday evening, so late on Tuesday would be a big help for me.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 5 October 2012 11:29 (thirteen years ago)

I'll get mine done at the weekend I put a reminder to vote in this poll on the 70s rock nominations thread and the 80s poll results. Hope that helps!
