I had Slayer's Angel Of Death in there

I've gone and lost my album votes. Was that first Scratch Acid in the options? I'm sure I voted for that. For some reason I just need to hear Owner's Lament right now. It's raining out there and this song is calling

I expect mike t-diva loves this one

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 21:54 (thirteen years ago)

Will take it down to 121 tonight I think. Doubt we can manage any more.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 21:55 (thirteen years ago)

geez not even Run DMC breaks the 100?

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 24 September 2012 21:57 (thirteen years ago)

Haha, three in a row that I a) know and b) like... poll be losing its edge!

mike t-diva, Monday, 24 September 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

Wow, "Raining Blood" was #3 on my ballot. I also expected it would make the top 50 easily.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Monday, 24 September 2012 21:58 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha! I knew it!
xp

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 21:59 (thirteen years ago)

I feel like this is my fault for submitting an unweighted ballot

btw Scratch Acid is fucking fantastic

I see that track as hardcore punk warped into damaged noise rock. She Says soaks the listener in bass/drum pounding, but the guitar and vocals curdle w/unhinged, bad-acid vibes, delivering a v. choice one-two punch.

I didn't vote for any Journey, I totally should have

love Separate Ways

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:03 (thirteen years ago)

for some reason I didn't vote for "She Said." I put my vote towards "Owner's Lament" instead.

i assume a lot of people like me love Run DMC but saw them on the noms thread and were like "uh yeah sure point made, so anyway"

some dude, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:05 (thirteen years ago)

I'm kinda wondering what's going on with the poll. its gone kinda strange and ILM.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:05 (thirteen years ago)

one of my favorite things about '80s rock that i tried to represent on my ballot was stuff like "Seperate Ways" and "Rainbow In The Dark" that had really prominent synth lines but still felt like pretty muscular guitar rock songs

some dude, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:06 (thirteen years ago)

I'm telling you - it'll be all Swans and Sonic Youth since that's all you guys were yammering about through the nom thread, lol

ms bogan you notice one of those bands haven't placed at all yet.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:09 (thirteen years ago)

oh FUCK YES re: Shriekback

such a badass song

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:09 (thirteen years ago)

Re: What's Going On

low f/Zen Arcade, but it's also one of their noisiest (in a great way), so 129 makes sense.

Hellhouse, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:11 (thirteen years ago)

haha dans catching up

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)

i think what the top of the poll looks like is wholly dependant on how many songs were nominated from a given act and how strong the consensus is around one or two of them. it's all kind of a random crapshoot given the format.

some dude, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)

My takeaway from the whole thing about the NWA tune is that votes for hip-hop wouldn't be counted, but it seems now this was a misinterpretation. Tbh even if I'd thought they would be counted I probably wouldn't have gone with the 2 Run-DMC tracks, they're good but not great imo.

Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:12 (thirteen years ago)

I might have considered She Watched Channel Zero for my ballot though (and yeah I know it samples Slayer...).

Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:13 (thirteen years ago)

xxpost Kilty MacFuck THAT'S WHAT i'M SAYING. None of those bands have placed yet bc they're all in the top 50/top 10

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:14 (thirteen years ago)

I did actually buy a Husker Du album: Candy Apple Grey. Never played it much, though; I bought the debut from Mantronix on the same day, and that kinda won. Fell hard for the first two Sugar albums, but that was still six years down the line.

mike t-diva, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:15 (thirteen years ago)

but swans have placed. so you're wrong

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:22 (thirteen years ago)

But I've seen them live a couple of times in the last 5 years and they still play the hell out of their old stuff.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:23 (thirteen years ago)

I saw them in 1996 at the Barras (capacity 1900) awesome show. They only did like 2songs from load. the rest of the show was half of black album then all the old classics you would want to hear.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:24 (thirteen years ago)

Welcome Home is way too subdued f/speed metal IMO. MOP could've been a truly sick masterpiece if all the fat had been cut and the song lengths halved. not a popular opinion, granted.

Hellhouse, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

I mean, I love Disposable Heroes, but eight fucking minutes?

Now way the fat is the best part! I love those long Puppets and Justice tracks

well they were great on puppets

and all the fish get drowned..

Mark G, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:34 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, but the padding consists of all the hammy metal segments. I've basically been ruined by Reign in Blood, tbh.

xxxp

Hellhouse, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:35 (thirteen years ago)

C'mon Huskers yup. One of Mould's great chorused riffs .Norton's melodic bass and Grant shoring it up and powering it home wonderfully with some sweet backing vocals.
Fuck all you anarchist 'punks'

Jessie Fer Ark (Mobbed Up Ping Pong Psychos), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:35 (thirteen years ago)

did you get my email?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:36 (thirteen years ago)

Was all ready to get mad but then remembered that I actually like this one and that by JAMC standards it gets somewhat close to rocking.

Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:37 (thirteen years ago)

Never Understand rocks IMO, but I didn't vote f/it.

Hellhouse, Monday, 24 September 2012 22:38 (thirteen years ago)

xpost Not a touch on Real World though obv.

Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:39 (thirteen years ago)

I prob would have voted for the JAMC version of Vegetable Man if it had been nominated.

Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Monday, 24 September 2012 22:40 (thirteen years ago)

Taste The Floor is sexy as hell

Real World's lyrics are fucked up
