I know I've been a bit 'meh' about most of the metal selections so far (this is just vmic for me I'm afraid) but yeah, this Celtic Frost one I quite like.

Think I tend to like my metal mid-to-slow tempo and chunky/crunchy sounding (with a few exceptions, e.g. I love Motothead's uptempo stuff).

xpost the vocals are certainly impressive, I'll give you that. They're not in a style I'd go out of my way for, but he's good at what he does.

Candlemass go from super slow to mid-paced epic doom and back again. Just like Trouble both bands are the gods of the genre along with a certain SST band.

actually was it "Tin Omen 1" that was the slightly slower version that popped up on the "Worlock" single? that version is full-on creepfest menacing awesome with about as close as Skinny Puppy comes to a bravura vocal performance

I think the takeaway is this: "Tin Omen" is fucking awesome and I would recommend ppl buy the album Rabies solely for that song, even though there are other good songs on the album

ike, you look at how a song like "(Everyday Is) Halloween" is structured and then compare it to "So What", which is two minutes longer and has fewer musical ideas in it, and you really start seeing how Ministry really just turned into a vehicle for a drugged-up Jourgenson to shout at a microphone more than a band making music

i actually pretty much agree with you and i think "mind.." is an extremely so-so album but i think i probably have a penchant for "so what" from when i would mix it into banging techno tracks at extremely high volumes and watching people on ecstasy have an instant comedown.
