Van Halen have a ton of dope tracks - all sadly compromised by the singing of David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar.

I nominated both KMFDM and PWEI but regret that "A Drug Against War" didn't make my final ballot. I probably should have found the space.

Some great guitar on "Hot for Teacher" btw. That placing seems low to me too but after "Livin' on a Prayer" placed below #200, I'm not too surprised.

The Tower isn't as good as It's Catching Up imo but I still dig it.
There's something about a lot of nmn songs that can be really exhausting, in a good way. The drums really pummel you.

"Bringing on the Heartbreak" has to be a contender. The chunky guitars that pop in during the pre-chorus are so jarring (Radiohead stole this idea for "Creep"), and Joe Elliot's accent on the "taking all the best of me" line is amazing; all the refinement is stripped away and he just sounds like a pathetic lout. And then he takes it up an octave for the chorus...he's like, "fuck it, I'll SING my way through this" -- it's a power ballad with all sorts of personality! Also "Still Loving You" by the Scorpions, a song that seems to go on for 3 years before getting to the part everyone remembers -- the tension/release is amazing!

DJP - Hanoi Rocks = fun early trashy glam - they influenced a lot of the early LA hair metal

it helps if you think of them in a New York Dolls way, where attitude is everything and the playing/performance isn't meant to blow you away so much as grow on you (like the many fungi in their leather pants)

i personally love them but for some reason completely spaced on voting for them ;_;

From the 2 HR tracks that have placed, I enjoyed Tragedy a lot. Don't Ever Leave me... erm, not so much.
I've been kind of wary of HR ever since they were cited as a major on the first Manics album, which imo was about 70% garbage (albeit garbage with good lyrics in places). Maybe it's time to give them a proper try.
