Ooh nice, Hot For Teacher was on my ballot. Had forgotten how much I liked Van Halen until I went through the tracks list.

Branca was one of my nominations and was in my top 20. one of his most accessible and "rocking" works outside of The Theoretical Girls/Static. the track begins in a recognizably minimalist vein with a stark foundation of compulsive, skeletal guitars, but around the 2:40 mark kicks in with rolling drums and additional layers of interlocking guitars that build into an anthemic, exuberant tangle. recommended.

Van Halen have a ton of dope tracks - all sadly compromised by the singing of David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar.

I nominated both KMFDM and PWEI but regret that "A Drug Against War" didn't make my final ballot. I probably should have found the space.

Some great guitar on "Hot for Teacher" btw. That placing seems low to me too but after "Livin' on a Prayer" placed below #200, I'm not too surprised.

heavy rock fans are the hardest people to get to vote for some reason. Doom metallers no problem. Black metallers no problem, rivetheads no problem. Poodles? impossible!

I mean, mainstream radio listeners, who would probably near-universally prefer Van Halen to Swans, are less likely to take the time to make a ballot for a poll like this.

This Loop song is really close to lots of stuff that I'm into but for some reasons just isn't doing it for me.
