^ Possibly a bit too low for I Don't Want To Hear It, but basically I'm just glad that it's made it.

lol goole recently cracked me up with the display name 'Newgod joins this board, and quickly he's some dude'

some dude, Sunday, 23 September 2012 18:21 (thirteen years ago)

My lowest Minor Threat creeps in. I just love Lyle Preslar's farty ,non sustain guitar sound on this debut. It was so "Out of Step' at the time. Oh dear

Re Bauhaus, I shunned these back at school, thanks to the faux weirdos who never spoke to me. Or anybody, come to think of it. Dark Entries was their best. The only other songs I know of theirs are their fairly straight cover of TelegramSam and even more faithful Ziggy

I nominated I Don't Want to Hear It, and while it's a good song, I'm not too ruffled by its placement (I didn't vote for it, either). the Minor Threat rec is one of the very few that I appreciate as a single package more than a collection of stellar songs, and I expect it'll place relatively high on the album poll. the songs themselves are great, but they're so lean and focused and brief that it's easy to appreciate them almost as a single track (Reign in Blood is also like this IMO).

Lolololol that"s freakin awesome xp to sd (abt goole's dn)

Do American ilxors believe in irony?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah Battery I'm not mad on. Master Of Puppets generally really highlights that side of Metallica I don't like where imo it's too fiddly and anal to consistently rock (obviously I'm well aware that thousands disagree with me on this).

Demented Dave won't play this anymore funnily enough.

Of the age, that one.

passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, I recall it being ubiquitous on rock radio, but it might have only seemed that way since I don't like anything about it.

Hellhouse, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:19 (thirteen years ago)

I think it holds up well.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:19 (thirteen years ago)

from out of nowhere >> epic
sadly "epic" will prolly place higher.

billstevejim, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:21 (thirteen years ago)

I agree (still dig epic though)

If anyone outside ILX is following this poll they will be thinking ILM is full of nutters into crazy weirdo music

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

outsiders OTM

gesange der yuengling (crüt), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

fwiw there were a LOT of crazy weirdo nominations for this poll.

billstevejim, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:29 (thirteen years ago)

hehe, my friend is doing this right now and that's pretty much what he said.

gospodin simmel, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:29 (thirteen years ago)

xxp

gospodin simmel, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:30 (thirteen years ago)

Oh Foetus, where have you been all my life?

Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:31 (thirteen years ago)

Apart from "Rock Box" and "I Love A Man In Uniform", this list is a million trillion light years away from what I was listening to in the 80s. This is mostly due to my hard line "guitar music is DEAD" stance, which ran from 1984 to 1991. Or, as AG put it to me on Twitter: "YOU ARE PAUL WELLER!!!" With that in mind, I'm following this countdown with a mixture of bafflement, curiosity, and not the faintest clue as to what will place next.

mike t-diva, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:31 (thirteen years ago)

I think they are both great (Epic and From out of Nowhere)... they work perfectly on the album w/ FooN as an opener leading into Epic. Hope The Real Thing places high on the albums poll!

Frobisher the (Viceroy), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:31 (thirteen years ago)

What was #190?

EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:32 (thirteen years ago)

And it was a tie with

#189 F/i - Why Not Now? Alan! 250 Points, 4 Votes

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:37 (thirteen years ago)

Mike I know most of these songs/bands and I'm still baffled with what will place next (and I have the results in front of me)

Good luck predicting anything. And the albums poll doesn't really resemble this one so good luck with that when it comes later in week.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:39 (thirteen years ago)

I can't post the spotify for F/i as its just a url for my local files. Hellhouse might be able to if the album is available in the usa.

Also YAY F/i!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:40 (thirteen years ago)

my age was single digits throughout the 80s, so the only result between 250-189 that i actually knew prior to 1990 was "living on a prayer."

billstevejim, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

The way we're going this will finish on weds!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

I reckon Asbestos Lead Asbestos could finish in the top 100. Or only two of us have voted for it and it hasn't placed.

passive-aggressive display name (aldo), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:45 (thirteen years ago)

I am pretty sure I voted ALA

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:47 (thirteen years ago)

I voted for ALA too.

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:54 (thirteen years ago)

I feel like we're all in an episode of 120 Minutes

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:56 (thirteen years ago)

"Fascist Jock Itch" was one of my nominations but I couldn't actually vote for it, not for all the "ARYAN YAHOO"s in the world

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:58 (thirteen years ago)

(had it been an actual Ministry track I would likely be more kindly disposed towards it)

cake-like Lady Gaga (DJP), Sunday, 23 September 2012 19:59 (thirteen years ago)

you guys should have done some real teamwork then. read into that what you will
