I'm thinking I really need to listen to some Bauhaus. Only really heard one or two songs.

Ha, I wonder if there's a macro in Word that can flip a list upside down...

Oh duh. I can just c&p your list. Nm.

Nice to see Trouble place!
oooohhhhhhhhh... you're a cold blooded killer, AG, for starting this again hours before I got up.

you had ample warning!
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 16:44 (thirteen years ago)
didn't vote for it, but expected it to be much higher.Might be a bit of vote-splitting going on. I left it out 'cause I already had several Dino Jr tunes on my ballot.

#199 Metallica - Fade To Black 234 Points, 5 Voteshttp://youtu.be/l3EryN4stwQ
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:00 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, I understand. You're Living All Over Me is considered part of the indie canon, though, so I automatically assumed all its tracks would place well.
xp

cool poll so far dudes

Was wondering when something from Metallica would show up.
― Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:08 (thirteen years ago)
Metallica's a weird band at this point. they seem so revered and reviled both critically and popularly that it's tough to say where they'll place. I don't think their more recent blunders have led to any critical revisions of their early work, though, so I'm guessing a lot of the tracks in this poll will be fairly high.
― Hellhouse, Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:09 (thirteen years ago)
I thought that track would be top 50 for sure
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:10 (thirteen years ago)
Hmm youtube comments are suggesting that Fade to Black is an anti-feminist screed, but I always got more of a "damn its tough being hard dude like me in MODERN SOCIETY..." thing from it. Not that the point of Metallica is their stupid fucking lyrics.
― Frobisher the (Viceroy), Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:16 (thirteen years ago)
idk, I imagine they've blown a lot of their cred. maybe their long aesthetic decline has destroyed too much critical good will w/regard to their early work.
― Hellhouse, Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:18 (thirteen years ago)
naw it just means the people who like them didn't bother to vote

This is def better than I remember it being. Ace chorus riff obv.xpost referring to Fade to Black
― Neckbeard's Castle (Mr Andy M), Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:20 (thirteen years ago)
I think Metallica will always be one of those bands I think are just 'OK' though. With the exception of Kill Em All which I have a long-term soft spot for.Never heard this Telescopes track, will give it a spin.

I really dig the slow build to the bridge and then the ROCK OUT! I just don't know enough about early Metallica to have voted for them. By the time I was getting into metal they were releasing fancy special editions of their black album.
~~eeexxxiiit ligghttahh, aeeenterr niiiightaaah!~~
(On second thought there is one Metallica track I think I voted for, but this wasn't it)

― Frobisher the (Viceroy), Sunday, 23 September 2012 17:25 (thirteen years ago)
going to be LOTS of vote-spreading in the case of Metallica, I would guess.

My favorite Metallica song/only one I like used to be 'One' but now is 'Fade to Black'. Song is way cool.

― Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 18:14 (thirteen years ago)
"Fade To Black" is an anemic slog, they made better power ballads in the '90s

^ Possibly a bit too low for I Don't Want To Hear It, but basically I'm just glad that it's made it.

My lowest Minor Threat creeps in. I just love Lyle Preslar's farty ,non sustain guitar sound on this debut. It was so "Out of Step' at the time. Oh dear
Re Bauhaus, I shunned these back at school, thanks to the faux weirdos who never spoke to me. Or anybody, come to think of it. Dark Entries was their best. The only other songs I know of theirs are their fairly straight cover of TelegramSam and even more faithful Ziggy

I nominated I Don't Want to Hear It, and while it's a good song, I'm not too ruffled by its placement (I didn't vote for it, either). the Minor Threat rec is one of the very few that I appreciate as a single package more than a collection of stellar songs, and I expect it'll place relatively high on the album poll. the songs themselves are great, but they're so lean and focused and brief that it's easy to appreciate them almost as a single track (Reign in Blood is also like this IMO).
― Hellhouse, Sunday, 23 September 2012 18:31 (thirteen years ago)

― Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 23 September 2012 18:33 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah Battery I'm not mad on. Master Of Puppets generally really highlights that side of Metallica I don't like where imo it's too fiddly and anal to consistently rock (obviously I'm well aware that thousands disagree with me on this).
