I wanted to see the Blind Shake for $5 @ the Ritz tonite, but after Swans last night & Melvins Weds night I just haven't got it in me. A shame, bcz I <3 the Blind Shake so.

sad to hear michael gira wasn't his usual bubbly self

he wasn't being a prima donna or an asshole or anything, he was just justifiably upset with some of the sound and then i'm pretty sure the band missed some cues at a certain point, which has to be frustrating.

i'm still so pissed off at what they've done to ruin the sound at the 400 bar i'm not even going to see one of my favorite bands ever (MoB)....fucking dicks ugggg the archers show sound was soooo bad

what changed? i never much liked that bar but i don't remember it sounding great like ever

trans am gave me hearing damage there, so when i'm famous they'll put a plaque on the wall for that

well it used to sound "Ok"...basically they built a new wall dividing the stage part of the room from the bar part...which totally fucked up the acoustics and blocks off all the sightlines from the bar side....like just go! it's the most retarded renovation i've ever seen in my life

kinda bummed i didn't go to burma, heard it was great

also heard bob weston did a lot to make it sound considerably better than the archers show from ppl that were at both

so as long as bands have a member that's a respected sound engineer and producer they should be fine!

@ Burma I was stood in front on the Clint side and honestly the sound was pretty bad right there, but I didn't care.

I missed Com Truise and Mike Watt but am going to see Brute Heart perform an instrumental soundtrack to "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" at the Cedar tomorrow. (Was tempted to go see Converge at, I think, the Varsit, instead, but am feeling elderly this week.)

That show sounded interesting but I ended up not going. I saw Brute Heart last month when they opened for Maria Minerva and liked them though, I'd see them again too.

i just got drunk downtown with ppl, crashed out, got up at 6, and drove home two hours to work

oh fucking hell i totally forgot abt the jandek show

i had actually forgot to buy tickets and wasn't going to go but a friend called and she snagged one for me so i drove down in spite of knowing i'd miss half the set. it was a pretty subdued show, shadowy sounding, and jandek hid behind a piano for most of it. still, it was great. some yahowa 13 grooves (idk maybe i'm a little off there) + awesome horn work + jandek doing his thing. really glad i made it.

Argh, I didn't realize Laurie Anderson was coming to the Walker! Already sold out. :(
