earplugs = concerts are often loud = i believe i should protect my hearing

i completely disagree with this and yet i can't quite explain why..

although there are frequently associations of people and events when we think of music, and that helps make up our personal likes and dislikes. but if we're going to talk about the music, then that stuff is irrelevant.

ok, this sounds more difficult to back up the more i say anything. but, i could say something like... errr... i think that bob marley made some good records but i can't divorce his music from stoopid stoners so i don't like bob marley records.

This is pretty good news, yes?

Hopefully, yes! Apparently with full control just using Warners for distro, tho there have been other reports saying Warners have some sort of other stake in it. Should clear the way for a nice reissuing project too (hopefully we'll get some vinyl)

Great Christmas present this news. Seems weird for this to be happening with Chris Knox still out of action.

Anyone seen the reformed 3d's? Playing a few gigs in Jan/Feb and have already played the Merge show in the U.S How were they?

Martin Phillipps has already expressed his hope that the Chills' back catalogue will now, finally, be properly reissued ...

and if it isn't at least he can add roger shepherd to his list of mythical bogeymen that have held him back although really, roger shepherd is probably already on that list. i don't think this means much unless he knows better rocks to look under in new zealand for new and interesting artists/groups. releasing mediocre/awful end of career records by once great bands like the clean and the chills and the verlaines doesn't find me inspired.

Hinklepicker square otm here, only non Compilation Anthology track I really love is Platypus, but Art School/Hold Onto the Rail omissions are unforgivable.

Doug Hood, who was briefly in The Clean, and helped to record their early sessions, and worked with the label on other duties, and managed the Chills, has passed away (I saw on twitter)

Yea 3d’s are a wonderful band - Hellzapoppin & Venus Trail are both excellent and would be vying for a place in any ‘top FN ‘ list of mine. Especially great live - a beautifully monumental combo of ecstatic and unhinged. They have a Peel sessions ep thing coming out soon.
