Re the Grampa track above. Someone should put together a mix of the best 'Lately Bass' preset tracks.

Some of my favourite KCs are his collaborations with YC, such as:

lately bass, is that what you call that bumping new jersey bass sound? greatest example of which is this, all-time house top 10 material:

nice feeling contributing towards a bucolic environment

suare, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 10:44 (thirteen years ago)

Choice track choice.

That's the one, the prest was based on the bass sound in Janet Jackson's "What Have You Done For Me Lately", and found on the great second-hand value Yamaha TX81Z.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 11:23 (thirteen years ago)

Has anyone seen the rest of the film?

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 11:41 (thirteen years ago)

'tonite' is all time for me, getting the shrink wrapped import 12" back in the day was the best £6.99 i ever spent my dinner money on.

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 12:09 (thirteen years ago)

ha! forgot about that video. love it. there's more?!

andrew m., Wednesday, 19 September 2012 14:47 (thirteen years ago)

A whole film about duelling deep house DJs called Frog River!

More 90s dance music I would have nommed in the poll if I thought anyone would vote for it apart from me:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j79mVk_1y_k

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 16:56 (thirteen years ago)

^ all time classic, would surely get votes

suare, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 16:57 (thirteen years ago)

Wouldn't have nommed this, but I only discovered it a month ago. To my ears it's a deep house take on UK rave influences:

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 17:04 (thirteen years ago)

suare, you reckon? In the 00 poll loads of tunes I consider stone-cold classics were only voted for by me.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

A friend of mine put that Don Carlos record at the end of a mix a month back. Hadn't heard it in so many years. Awesome record.

mmmm, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 18:23 (thirteen years ago)

Chewshabadoo, i did nominate it and it's in there. i will certainly be voting it top 3, maybe number 1.

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 22:46 (thirteen years ago)

Ah, cool. Not had a chance to go though it yet.

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 22:51 (thirteen years ago)

if we're talking those guys, you have to hear this remix of jean-luc ponty's 'computer incantations for world peace'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hamT4XESYG0

elan, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 23:14 (thirteen years ago)

god, early kerri chandler basslines are SO brutal

elan, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 23:16 (thirteen years ago)

'love love love' is brilliant, alwys wondered if dolle jolle knew those guys had been there a decade earlier? the source material was made for a house remake obv. this thread's on fire.

second only to popcorn (or something), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 23:34 (thirteen years ago)

dolle jolle's version is too soft IMO

elan, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 23:51 (thirteen years ago)

anyone has recommendation for sleazy, sexy house like esp's it's you and mr & mrs dale's it's you (ny london) remix? thanks.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 20 September 2012 03:59 (thirteen years ago)

well, you could try 'feeling sleazy' by fingers inc. really anything on another side

the late great, Thursday, 20 September 2012 22:47 (thirteen years ago)

How about Aaron Carl - Down, or Moodymann - Freeki mother fucka.

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 20 September 2012 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

down is a great one

the late great, Thursday, 20 September 2012 23:44 (thirteen years ago)

that dj deeon is more like it, sleaze wise. down and freeki mf are too "polished." listen to "it's you" and you can feel like some amateurness and it's so sexy you find your hip make some thrusting movement.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 21 September 2012 00:34 (thirteen years ago)

I listen to dj deeon like every day

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Friday, 21 September 2012 00:43 (thirteen years ago)

every single day
every single night
every single day
every single night

the late great, Friday, 21 September 2012 01:33 (thirteen years ago)

We're you listening to the original Down, or the resurrected mix? Original has a rougher edge to it.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 21 September 2012 08:46 (thirteen years ago)

how about

the original of course. yes it's rough, but not necessarily sexy.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 21 September 2012 09:06 (thirteen years ago)

second only to popcorn (or something): hmmm not really but thanks anyway.

another examples:

Lidell Townsell & M.T.F. - Get With U (Nu Original Mix)
http://youtu.be/pxFAryRkJPI

funky green dogs - fired up
http://youtu.be/rog4Xp-EK-U

notice the sound now?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 21 September 2012 09:17 (thirteen years ago)

no, i'm stumped. don't get how 'fired up' fits at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NajxGltmjBA

second only to popcorn (or something), Friday, 21 September 2012 09:18 (thirteen years ago)

fired up fits so well. the lusty vocals, naughty bassline, and more importantly the overall corny/cheap (?) feels.

that risque iii track is good but doesn't quite fit as it has a rather menacing tone.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 21 September 2012 09:25 (thirteen years ago)

is it like a weird disconnect between the vocals and the track, cos i'm getting that from a few of these?
