GBM sounds too cluttered, throwing everything to the wall, and totally loses momentum in the last half when she starts speak-singing. It starts reminding me of a louder version of that Lumidee song by that point, all that throw-away clapping. The wailing/shouting/lack of a chorus doesn't help either.

like i said, if you like the extended version better, think of that, if you like the shorter edit without the speak-singing at the end, think of that.

Either way, I don't lovelovelove either of these songs without the video. And "Single Ladies" is... perhaps my favourite video of all time.

Why is Beyonce dancing like a gimpy oversexed preteen candidate for "favorite video of all time"? I think almost every other video she's done is better than this one, including the ones for the songs I hate.

Her dancing is as good as Taylor Swift's singing; it's perfectly serviceable and enjoayble but no one other than a hyperfan is going to claim it ranks among the best and there are blatant moments where it's off.

i'm not gonna debate how good a dancer beyonce is, but to call Single Ladies "amateurishly choreographed" and then compare it negatively to hyper-edited clips and wade robson aerobics is pretty wtf. People imitate the dancing in "Singles Ladies" because its shown without jump cuts away from the action every 3 seconds, not because even a 7 year old could do it.

Thank you, croup. Sorry for the blatant pulling of rank, but as likely the only paid choreographer on ILM, DP is mad incorrect about that (although I agree about Bey getting away with not being a tremendously great dancer on the basis of hot). I'll go into more detail when I can watch youtube.

hahahaha yes okay I think I completely conflated the "Making The Video" episode with the actual video, plus I conflated the dancing in "Bye Bye Bye" with the dancing in "Pop" and the dancing on "So You Think You Can Dance"

so basically there's one move they do in the cube that I thought was cool and the rest of it makes "Single Ladies" look like "Swan Lake"
