you know, I always thought it was weird (& pretty lame tbh, tho the shows were usually amazing regardless) that I saw them prob eight or nine times b/w 1992-98 & they never once played a single goddam track from Psychocandy - the only thing from that era that made their setlists was 'Some Candy Talking.'

this show was great by the way, was surprised that not everyone there was 40+, is this because of "lost in translation" or.....?

They seem to be one of the 80s bands that have trickled down to millenials in a reverent way as opposed to an omglol80s way.

Picked up a bundle of the deluxe expanded editions. Listening to an interview conducted by a disinterested Tommy Vance who sounds incredibly like Alan Partridge.

Janice Long used to get fairly decent interviews out of them.

really, wow! i recently signed up to their artist poll, so a new album before that poll is great news.

I'm hopeful for it. saw them a while back where they were doing a little greatest hits bit then all of psychocandy and it was actually a bonafide great show which i generally don't expect from not particularly active baby boomer bands.

Song is also bad. Drums are really terrible. Lyrics, chords etc all sound like a JAMC-bot created them. If someone said it was Primal Scream I'd have laughed at it. Mind you there's a certain kind of Jesus and Mary Chain badness which the fans seem to want so what do I know?

Next (this) month, the Jesus and Mary Chain will release Damage and Joy, their first album in 18 years. In addition to their upcoming European dates behind the record, the band have now announced a North American spring tour. This May, they will perform in Brooklyn, Chicago, Toronto, and more. Find their upcoming shows below.

Damage and Joy is out March 24 via ADA/Warner Music. It follows the band’s 1998 LP Munki. The new album was recorded with producer Youth. It features contributions from the band’s touring drummer Brian Young, ex-Lush bassist Phil King, and Youth on bass. They’ve so far put out “Always Sad” and “Amputation” from the album.
