Yeah, this is one of the (many) Who songs that I'll play for someone where they'll say, "That's the Who?!"

Also, Moon fought for it to not be included on the record. Partly this was because he felt it amounted to a Pete solo track (which, yeah, it is), but partly because he was fighting for the inclusion of "Jaguar," which Moon sang lead on.

I finally watched the Ox's Tale documentary that Steve Luongo directed. Kinda amateurish in the way it was out together but great, great interview with Pete in there. And quite a bit of good stuff from the Ox himself.

Yeah, and I always admired the fact that Entwistle self-financed/went into debt in order to do solo tours.

I kinda love that. It's was sorta cool how much he needed to perform....a little bit sad bc it seemed to replace something he couldnt get from home life/family...but still, he seemed to be fed by some kind of creative need

When Pete talked about playing the night Ox passed away, that line where he said he went to look over at Ox and when he wasn't there he just wanted to die. :(

I know, right? They played this at a lot of their 1971 shows. It's one thing to say "Here's one from our new album!" in the first two or three songs; it's another for a reject to be the second song in your set. Like Jeff Beck said, "They were too good."

Both of those were late cuts for me. "Sea & Sand" has a great arrangement, but I think some of the lyric is too pat. (But that goes for Quadrophenia as a whole, so ehhh)

I love Quadrophenia but it's not really a singles album for me... I like it as a whole thing

Disguises was my #2. I suspect it's because a Toronto band I used to revere did a blistering cover of it, and that's the version I really love.
