last kind words is the blind spot in my first-wave MS comps. i have it, but i dont jam it all the time. maybe woke one morning... will bring me around to it! the spiritual singers LP is right up my alley, though. psyched to death for that one.

Just ordered Standing on the Verge of Getting it On and Let's Take it the Stage Funkadelic G/F's from Amazon.

it's great! check the lottie kimbrough guitar thing and lulu jackson's careless love. all my lps are a long way away so i haven't heard it for a while, but it's a nice one. it's pretty similar to the recent fight on one.

I just picked up this Stephen O'Malley 12" on Table of the Elements from Other Music today. Everything that label releases is so beautiful looking...I'll report back with how it is later once I get home and listen to it.

I should clarify: Popsike is an archive of ebay completed auctions. Vinyl only. Cuts off at £20 I think (£30 possibly)...

The Stephen O'Malley 12" turned out to be kind of disappointing. Really not as good as I had anticipated.

How does everyone feel about the Group Bombino record on Sublime Frequencies? As good as Group Inerane?

yeah after a few spins I like it better than Inerane I think. the second side is insane. (side 1 acoustic stuff is nice too)

in recent month or so?

bought an LP called "sack heil" by a german person called harald SACK ziegler because it was odd-looking, odd-sounding and cheap. pretty great homemade arty/dada garage pop, kinda cute, often abrasive, mostly WTF. plus good tunes

also saxon "the eagle has landed", which rules

also wetnurse LP on seventh rule, which doesn't sound like anything else, plus rules

also comp of foul-mouthed 20s/30s lady blues singers on sub-rosa, very nice

and also exc comp of oddball gospel musics from whenever on mississippi, "oh graveyard..."

also hammers of misfortune "fields" & "church of broken glass" & "the august engine" (former 2 awesome, latter 1 not so much)

also a wierd "remixed" version of professor longhair "rock & roll gumbo" on dancing cat records, apparently an imprint of windham hill. (???) said remixing said to consist of bringing up the pieaner and adding horns to one track. fun to have around

also a copy of 1st jim carrol band lp, which i love more than is reasonable, but though it looked good, doesn't sound any better than wot i already had (noisy, worn)

also drain LP "pick up heaven", which it turns out it sucks, but only cost a couple bucks

also snakeflower II lp called something or other - who are snakeflower the II? sounds like nuggets + voidoids + modern strokes/american death ray + maybe some surf guitar stuff. pretty almost great

also lover! "gathered in th graveyard" LP on some kind of otherworldly mystery label, which is good, but not as good as awesome rob's house 45

also singals by music such as nobunny, lover! and i dunno, maybe others. none especially great, except that one rob's house lover!, which is. oh, and idle times on woodsist, which is super great, but also on woodsist, so should be looked at askance

I will probably make a trip to Goner this weekend during my emergency visit to Memphis to try and figure out why the hell my brother has wrecked two cars in the last month and a half, gotten two DUI's, and can't seem to move out of my parents house. I think I need to get some of Rich C's LOVER! output.

Bought Red Aunts' #1 Chicken a few weeks ago for a buck. Just about the best buck I ever spent.

Today splurged on brand-new vinyl x2: Wolf Parade At Mount Zoomer and Neil Diamond's Home Before Dark. Both were advertised to include a download of the album. Only one had a valid URL to head to for that purpose. And it wasn't Sub Pop who dropped the ball. Hey Columbia: FUCK YOU I'M STEALING IT.

Well, last time I saw it on Ebay it went for about £30. Maybe that was the spray painted one though.

I often find Slampt records dirt cheap in LA for some reason.

I bought the spray painted one off some random dude for a fiver. It's good but I wouldn't turn down a £25 profit if circumstances required, tbh

disagree on the TPK, I've been liking Games for Slaves a lot better than the first one. but I heard both of em at the same time so it might just be that the higher fidelity on the new one sounds punchier and Harmful Emotions will take longer to "get."

this is amazing stuff. if i remember correctly, some of those sides are almost impossible to hear. cuz, there is, like, one copy left of the 78 and it ain't feeling so well. but this just adds to the whole ghostly vibe. but maybe this was just the copy i had. is it a german pressing?

i got first little feat - nice clean copy which i needed - and hoy hoy double album little feat, and a ned doheny album, and poco's rose of cimarron from 1976 - which is GREAT and just proves that i probably do need to own all their post-crazy eyes 70's stuff - and a funky cedar walton album from the 70's.

"rose of cimarron" is such an awesome epic rusty young song.

anyone into the whole west coast cali 70's thing, needs those three 70's ned doheny albums IMMEDIATELY. S/T, Hard Candy, and Prone.

In the afternoon we went to the used market in Santiago for several reasons. We wanted to find a new Swiss Army knife for Laurie, since hers was stolen by a scumbag taxi driver about a week ago. Nino and Adela have a booth there and they sell knives, plus we wanted to talk to them concerning several items of business (school exchange stuff, visiting, etc.) As we wandered around waiting for them, I encountered a booth full of vinyl records! My eyes bugged out when looked through them and I realized that the woman had run a store in Cuzco, probably 25 years ago. The 12” LPs were beat up garbage, but she had two or three hundred 45’s that were totally unplayed mint Peruvian pressings of stuff from 1977-1982. B-52s, Go-Go’s, Fleetwood Mac, disco stuff, oh my goodness. I ended up buying about 25 of them for a little under four bucks. Then later on we found ANOTHER stall selling all-Peruvian records, I got an LP of solo guitar by various artists and another LP of ceremonial dances and songs. Needless to say, I was very pleased.
