New single out for cancer charity, "Ronan". It's on iTunes. Very sparse, very country (lyrically at least). Good vocal performance.

i've really grown to love "we are never ever"

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:15 (thirteen years ago)

yea ive played 'we are never' a ton

johnny crunch, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:19 (thirteen years ago)

Vma performance sort of turned me around on it. Still don't think it's great, and part of that is I think there are other people doing that thing a bit better maybe, but I'm not totes against. I can't hear it without thinking of Avril's "What the Hell".

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:22 (thirteen years ago)

that was kinda maudlin

call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:22 (thirteen years ago)

we are never has won me over too, when i finally noticed the we--EE in the chorus that sealed the deal

call all destroyer, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)

that was kinda maudlin

yeah. well you understand why she sung it for a cancer benefit.

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:24 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I've come around "we are never.." too. I knew I would, I always do. But, I still don't like the talky part, it was especially awkward during the VMA performance.

brontosaur, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:24 (thirteen years ago)

the we-EE is the part that keeps it from being really great imo i just cant

johnny crunch, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:26 (thirteen years ago)

No that's the best bit

Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:27 (thirteen years ago)

yes that is the best bit

also the talking part is still hilarious

young money color me badd (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:38 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah the new song doesn't do a lot for me until the bridge(verse?) bit at 2:57 on. The standing in the closet line is such a weird image to being it with and then "what if the miracle was even gettin one moment with you" and then that breath... bah! i get all moved.. I think if it was any one else other than Taylor singing it I wouldn't feel the same way. But then again, part of the fun of investing into one artist and following their career closely, means that sometimes they get a pass that new(to me) artists don't and I get to enjoy things I might otherwise dismiss.

brontosaur, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:40 (thirteen years ago)

"being it with" should be "begin it with"..

brontosaur, Saturday, 8 September 2012 01:40 (thirteen years ago)

'never' just isn't working for me; it clicked for the first day and then I realized i never wanted to hear it again.

This cad needs a cordial introduction to Eugene of Oxbow. (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 8 September 2012 06:16 (thirteen years ago)

she wrote 10/16 tracks on this album by herself

uberweiss, Monday, 10 September 2012 02:48 (thirteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

love this new track http://woundstobindx.tumblr.com/post/32244061547/taylor-swift-begin-again-took-a-deep-breath-in

abcfsk, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 05:55 (thirteen years ago)

oh wow this is absolutely fantastic

instafapper (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 06:03 (thirteen years ago)

i've been spending the last 8 months
thinking all love ever does is
break
and burn
and end
but on a wednesday
in a cafe
i watched it begin again

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

marred with a slight bit of NO NO NO at the news that that lead singer from train is involved in one of the songs on the album lol... ed sheeran and train. it just literally doesn't get worse.

uberweiss, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 16:51 (thirteen years ago)

You said you never met one girl
Who has as many James Taylor records as you
But I do

And you, will hide away and find your piece of mind with some indie record that's much cooler than mine

So the last record was all about ex-boyfriends, this one is all about record collections?

a shark with a rippling six pack (Phil D.), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i had the same thought

instafapper (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:07 (thirteen years ago)

Giving me hope for the album, dub step and Ed Sheeran aside.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 20:33 (thirteen years ago)

Like, not as much finesse as her best ballads but this is much more in the vein of what I want.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)

This album is about boyfriends' record collections.

taking tiger mountain (up the butt) (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 20:38 (thirteen years ago)

she was across the street from my store and she didn't come in and buy any tammy wynette records from me!!!!

"On Saturday, Swift, 22, and Kennedy, 18, headed for the intimately lit Taylor’s Tavern & Restaurant in Greenfield, Mass., a quaint New England town only a few miles from Kennedy’s prep school in Deerfield."

taylor's tavern is blah but i guess they went cuzza the name. apparently they went to hope & olive too which is my friend maggie's restaurant.

scott seward, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 23:11 (thirteen years ago)

to be honest, they might have come in and it probably never would have occurred to me that it was her.

scott seward, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 23:13 (thirteen years ago)

"begin again" is so good <3

lex pretend, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 08:28 (thirteen years ago)

oh look it's that i've-just-played-this-song-20-times-on-loop-and-am-utterly-overwhelmed feeling i'd been missing from this t-swift campaign <3 <3 <3

all those fleeting things you think for just a moment captured so well <3

simultaneous external/internal narratives <3

"i think it's strange you think i'm funny cuz he never did" <3 <3

lex pretend, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 09:18 (thirteen years ago)

Yes this is excellent. Love the cover (if that's real) as well.

Tim F, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 12:50 (thirteen years ago)

the joni signifiers are really coming thick and fast now, right?

- image-wise, the resemblance on that cover is surely not accidental - not just the hair and the dress but the general pose
- the title of the album as counterpoint to blue
- cafe reference
- JAMES TAYLOR reference

like...nothing specific or definite, but we know how taylor has a knack of using these things that fleetingly remind you of something else

i love how the phrase "i do" shifts meaning throughout, from the initial means of clinging on to her own identity to finding things in common with someone else, and of course the echo of marriage vows...i BET she thought about writing a verse to this song that ended with her saying "i do" at the wedding

lex pretend, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

Wouldn't be the first time.

Tim F, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 20:24 (thirteen years ago)

i'm sure james taylor is interested if swift is

Mordy, Wednesday, 26 September 2012 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

i BET she thought about writing a verse to this song that ended with her saying "i do" at the wedding

was legit shocked on first listen when this did not happen, thought it bespoke Mature Restraint

this is lovely.

taking tiger mountain (up the butt) (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:09 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i got this shit on repeat

instafapper (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:10 (thirteen years ago)

well hell

"I call her Red / yeah yeah yeah"

flamboyant goon tie included, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 12:57 (thirteen years ago)

is this the first time she ever ceded a hook to an instrument?

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 13:31 (thirteen years ago)

can't wait to get home and hear this

interviewing her this week btw

lex pretend, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

interviewing her this week btw

!

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 14:19 (thirteen years ago)

Ask her some critical questions about letting producers take the reigns on certain tracks (although if uberweiss is correct it's not the majority of the album and these two latest tracks suggest classic taylor, I need to know why she let lame people mess with her steez (probably to get that smash mega hit, but))

There aren't many artists/people I really like and would also have lots of urgent questions to ask in an interview setting, but TS is one of them. Pressure is on you.

abcfsk, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 14:23 (thirteen years ago)

the problem is she's enjoyed several smash mega hits

the ones that I'm near most: fellow outcasts and ilxors (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 14:26 (thirteen years ago)

ask her t;o mary me

turds (Hungry4Ass), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 14:36 (thirteen years ago)

this new one is fucking great

barthes simpson, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

new song is lovely of course. such a talented vocalist, making even that crossword line sound not completely embarrassing

lex you are the LUCKIEST GUY EVER. can not wait for that interview, i'm expecting some hard-hitting shit

uberweiss, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 16:55 (thirteen years ago)

part of the problem with modern society is that people say things like "such a talented vocalist" about artists like Taylor Swift without even a hint of irony

set me on fire RAAAAH (DJP), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 16:58 (thirteen years ago)

i'd love to see dan interview taylor swift

lil dirk (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)

lex make taylor admit that she's just using ed to establish herself in the uk and that she doesn't actually think he's any good

uberweiss, Tuesday, 2 October 2012 17:00 (thirteen years ago)

how do we not have a tracklist for this 20 days before release?

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 19:13 (thirteen years ago)

confirmed tracks:
we are never ever getting back together
begin again
red
everything has changed (feat. ed sheeran)
i knew you were trouble
state of grace
holy ground

12 more titles to come isn't this exciting
