Actually keef brings a new style : this way of rapping verses like it is a hook while being very pissed off but letting the anger only come out through his voice and restraining it.

This seems like a logical development from waka's style.

You can see tons of clones coming up as of late (asap ferg on work).

i'm not interested in the "but he's popular" argument. lots of boring people get popular.

yeah he def has a genuinely original style. people can become better technicians but finding people who rap just like themselves w/out biting or being overly technical, is what makes him stand out, for sure.

i've found lex's taste in rap music to have been pretty retarded this year, like ytf would anyone want "i don't like" to sound more like "niggas in paris" ?

i don't think it needs to sound more like anything. if anything i'd prefer it sounded less like the billion other songs w/ lex luger hi-hats out there, i don't really get much unique out of it.

even as far as post-luger stuff goes i think that beat is pretty unique

its p evidently in the lineage of luger production, i dont think its pretending to more than that. just an exceptional song w/in that vein

btw can i just say that it cracks me up that a while back when the "around my way" dropped and i glanced at a still from it i thought lupe was chief keef, they have kinda similar haircuts these days

i mean i think you could always argue any beat sounds like a billion others in this genre, "i dont like" still feels, if not unique at least notable, just for the sheer energy & force of it, feels so implacable. feel like a big reason ppl came to be so fatigued with brick squad output last year was how little of it matched the energy and just like, intimidation of the flockavelli singles, and "i don't like" and "3hunna" deliver in this regard, gave new life to this horse rap has been beating to death for the past 18 months

young chop is far from being a lex luger ripoff imo, his beats are more melodic and the rolling snares are usually a bit faster and longer in duration. Luger is def chop's main influence but he's not a copycat.
