― your native bacon (mh), Saturday, 25 August 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

if you can play two copies of native rhythm electric at once it is a treat (even in youtube)

Tensnake is extremely hooky. Everytime I hear somebody mention M-Cat I get the Coma Cat vocal replaying in my head― I am using your worlds, Sunday, April 25, 2010
kind of amazing how many times i've heard "coma cat" played out this year, and i really don't even go out that much. is this just random coincidence or are sf disco nights actually indicative of this song sorta blowing up ???― a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Monday, April 26, 2010
this track has basically the most perfect hook ever.― skip, Wednesday, January 26, 2011
Coma Cat just feels like one of those timelessly perfect house records, like Chime/Voodoo Ray level perfect. It sends dancefloors into states of ridiculous grinning euphoria.― Matt DC, Wednesday, January 26, 2011

p you want them 4-8 seconds apart (6 is really nice)
― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 16:25 (thirteen years ago)
tensnake sux yawn
Gonna take the opportunity that you guys are rather active over here to post the remaining 5 before the top 20.
― Moka, Saturday, 25 August 2012 16:25 (thirteen years ago)
Didn't vote for Coma Cat but I'm glad it made the list (wasn't really in doubt I guess).

YAYAYA
not quite as good as MUND ZU MUND but i don't think enough people have heard that one
i just ... i never "got" stuff like "coma cat" or "timecode" or pantha du prince or "trentemoller's polar express to tweeland". it just seems so middlebrow pretty.
― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)
I know this is a fairly selfish request but at some point once the countdown is finished I would love some kind of history lesson on 00s bobbins and how everything fits together. I've looked up a few of the old threads on here and they've given me some sense of how things developed but I still feel like I don't have the whole picture.

OK, I've listened to "Blind" 20 times today. It's the harmonies on that "I feel blind" that get me each time (something that gets lost in the Frankie Knuckles remix), and the beat right after that where the horns come in and I imagine all the dry ice around the dance floor going whoooosh and all the shirts coming off.― Eazy, Monday, February 18, 2008
Yes! Blind was like a revelation of sort, it's like what he was born to do. A voice with oomph like that has it's place, and where it was before wasn't it.― mehlt, Tuesday, February 12, 2008

xpost Particularly interested in the German side of things (microhouse, minimal, Berghain techno, when and how the changes came in between them, what all the key tunes/people/places/events were) but also would like to know about the electroclash>electrohouse>franken/bloghouse narrative too. And any points where the two met, e.g. as I understand it around 04-05 minimal and electrohouse were played in sets together and had some overlapping stylistic elements, right?
Didn't like Mouth To Mouth when I first heard it but it's grown on me. Blind I'm not familiar with, will give it a listen.

If someone had played "Dexter" for me, and told me that it was a remix of Joy Division's "Heart and Soul", I'd have have believed it without question. What a beautiful and original track. (I believe there's an entire ILM thread on this track)― Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, August 3, 2004

Ok, see you next week!
romeo ugh
― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)
Romeo is amazing fuiud. Total pop song though.
― Legendary General Cypher Raige (Gukbe), Saturday, 25 August 2012 17:13 (thirteen years ago)
Romeo is surprisingly low! I'd expected that to be top 10. Probably says more about voter demographic though.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 25 August 2012 17:19 (thirteen years ago)
The Isolee comment earlier about covering the song with a band reminded me of Dexter -- the Two Lone Swordsmen remix is them covering it.
― your native bacon (mh), Saturday, 25 August 2012 18:22 (thirteen years ago)
...which was paired with a Joy Division cover at the end of Weatherall's fabric mix.

mouth to mouth has aged pretty poorly
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Saturday, 25 August 2012 18:36 (thirteen years ago)
nah it's still a beast imo.

romeo is fucking awesome if you're a girl in a jetta singing it
― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 20:13 (thirteen years ago)
otherwise be very ashamed
what if you're in the jetta en route to getting laid?
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 25 August 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)
because that's how i feel every time i listen to that track.
I Gave You Away is better than Mouth To Mouth. Discus.
― Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Saturday, 25 August 2012 20:45 (thirteen years ago)
if you're getting laid to romeo you're essentially a briny

Vahid's death to false pop-dance crusade would be more convincing if he didn't listen to so much namby pamby post-dubstep.

― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 21:47 (thirteen years ago)
if i didn't drive around in a jetta that year singing romeo
srsly though i always much much much preferred their "straight house bangers" like set yo body free and flylife, even at the time, as rtc said "womp womp wot it do"
― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)
my favorite track on that was actually the one SR compared to wings

When all is said and done so do I, over the years "Same Old Show" has become my favourite Jaxx tune I think. But I still think "Romeo" is a great tune.
― Tim F, Saturday, 25 August 2012 21:54 (thirteen years ago)
there's also anything that says "brixton" in the title, the raw shit, and anything called "jaxx nite dub", uh, like that one ronnie richards thing jess and crabbe played in every set that sounds like they're throwing cymbals and kettle drums over the decks at your head
― the late great, Saturday, 25 August 2012 22:06 (thirteen years ago)
yeah Breakaway was total Prince-Not-Prince and amazing. Lucky Star blew my mind bitd too.
this sounds amazing pitched up real fast

― Eric H., Saturday, 25 August 2012 23:18 (thirteen years ago)
i'm starting to fear that my number 1 isn't going to make it and i genuinely believe it's the best tune of the 00s :( it begins with a 'q'.
― second only to popcorn (or something), Sunday, 26 August 2012 17:42 (thirteen years ago)
No idea, but thank you for reminding me of a very important Q track for the 90s poll!
