Concerning the metal thread, I said I would be up for doing some sort of 2008 ringtone poll. I thought I'd ask here first though, what would you autogoons like to see, if one was done? Albums/mixtapes? Tracks? Would you think it would be stupid and pointless? etc. etc.
All suggestions welcome.
― a hoy hoy, Sunday, 25 January 2009 08:56 (seventeen years ago)
it would be fun in theory but i think we all know our tastes well enough - or, all post/read this thread frequently enough - that the results really wouldn't be a surprise. i would send a ballot in if it actually happened but i guess i think it would be superfluous unless there were like 20+ votes, cuz if it was just ppl who read this thread + 3 or 4 lurkers it wouldn't be necessary
― jordy (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 25 January 2009 08:59 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, fair enough. I was thinking it might be more of a benefit to people who don't really know where to start w/ modern hiphop (like me looking at the metal one and thinking, hey, this is a genre i nothing about but am mightily intruiged by, if that makes sense.)
― a hoy hoy, Sunday, 25 January 2009 09:14 (seventeen years ago)
but even then, i guess, the actual 2008 poll will be chuck full of it. i may wait to see the results of that before i decide to do one.
― a hoy hoy, Sunday, 25 January 2009 09:15 (seventeen years ago)
here is shit that would place in the poll if you're interested:
- young jeezy - the recession- scarface - emeritus- g-side - starshipz and rocketz- a.b.n - it is what it is- lil wayne - tha carter III- killer mike - pledge allegiance to the grind vol. 2- lil boosie - da beginnig- q-tip - the renaissance
― jordy (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 25 January 2009 09:20 (seventeen years ago)

that rick ross track! would never have believed it.
nappy roots' the humdinger was a consensus 08 album, was it not? ditto bun b's ii trill. and i think t.i.'s paper trail ended up growing on lots of people. a trax poll might be interesting but tbh i think the window of caring about 08 polls has snapped shut.
here's some A+ uk ringtone...ghetto's 'sing for me'. ghetts is def one of the best mcs in grime right now.
(figured it wasn't worth trying to resuscitate the actual grime thread, and this is where any ilx interest in grime will be, if it exists at all)
