so is their name supposed to be a reference to New Order?

the perc remix just took my head off:

jabba hands, Monday, 20 August 2012 22:19 (thirteen years ago)

like the remixes, but miss the head-shearing harshness of the live stuff

contenderizer, Monday, 20 August 2012 22:22 (thirteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

digging this collab between FF and...peter gordon!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nskM0V2OkYM

coming out on optimo later this year. FF & PG also performing together at this ICA event next week: http://www.ica.org.uk/?lid=34383&bid=101

jabba hands, Thursday, 6 September 2012 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

That was really lovely!

I do wish they'd stop eking stuff out slowly and put out some proper releases though.

my god it's full of straw (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Thursday, 6 September 2012 19:27 (thirteen years ago)

nice moment of synchronicity - was playing Time of the Last Persecution by Bill Fay when I opened this thread, and then these lyrics from 'I Hear You Calling' came on:

I hear you calling from the riverbank
I will be coming when the air is black
All my time is lying on the factory floor
And all my time is lying on the factory floor

Some say messiah coming got to get it right
Some say messiah coming give me back my time
All my time is lying on the factory floor
And all my time is lying on the factory floor

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 6 September 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

nik void did a pretty great album with chris & cosey this year

sisilafami, Friday, 7 September 2012 01:19 (thirteen years ago)

I do wish they'd stop eking stuff out slowly and put out some proper releases though.

Kinda think they're doing it the right way! Big release will just attract loads of nonsense. They're working with some great people and getting attention from all the places I'd imagine they'd want attention from. They keep putting out good things. As mentioned upthread that recent Perc remix is woahhh

Crackle Box, Friday, 7 September 2012 10:05 (thirteen years ago)

They keep putting good things out that are so scattered it's really difficult to get enough of a chunk of their material to listen to them, when I'm in the mood to listen to them. Which would be a lot more often if there were, because they are great.

my god it's full of straw (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Friday, 7 September 2012 13:38 (thirteen years ago)

http://riotofperfume.com/3215/swans-and-why-a-continent-has-sunk-into-musical-myopia/

^^^ This is the most Quietus thing ever written and is so pompous its made me want to hate them. Maybe it shows FF up for the nostalgia they are, but most of what I've heard has been pretty good, if hardly earth shattering.

Matt DC, Friday, 7 September 2012 13:42 (thirteen years ago)

Jesus christ that review was just straight up bullshit - or at least the little I managed to wade through. Did they come to a point eventually? My eyeballs gave up in disgust. If I wanted to read yet another "Americans drive like this, Britishers drive like this..." ramble I'd reread the tipping thread, thanks.

the other week I found a copy of their debut single for 50p. http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=1612344&ev=rb It'd probably be worth quite a bit if someone hadn't written in all of the numbered boxes on the sleeve.

Clyde One DJ Diane “Knoxy” Knox-Campbell (Merdeyeux), Thursday, 22 August 2013 18:08 (twelve years ago)

to be fair the packaging on the new LP looks pretty elaborate and cool

dmr, Thursday, 22 August 2013 18:09 (twelve years ago)

Probably an obvious point but: the bass on Two Different ways

cardamon, Thursday, 22 August 2013 18:26 (twelve years ago)

Oh shit it's posted on this thread. I can't read.

oaiwfeowinf (seandalai), Thursday, 22 August 2013 23:51 (twelve years ago)

Can't wait to hear the album. It got a lukewarm review in The Wire (not that I'm taking much more note of the review than that)

kraudive, Friday, 23 August 2013 16:00 (twelve years ago)

This album is great!!!

'relevee' (carl craig rmx) - deep house trappings + more aggro synth settings = this record.

dmr, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 16:46 (twelve years ago)

Streaming on the Guardian. The comments were pretty much all abuse when I checked. Not that that's any indication.

owenf, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 16:47 (twelve years ago)

just took a look at the comments and was expecting "what is this crap it's not music!" and instead got "this sucks, I only like their early stuff!" guess I underestimated the hipness quotient of the Guardian audience.

all the comments complaining that they bent too far toward a run-of-the-mill DFA sound are off base to me but I guess I could see it if you prefer their industrial side to their dancey side

dmr, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 17:01 (twelve years ago)

So this thing's up on Spotify today, excellent so far imo.

weird, I guess they moved it up or something, I did end up doing the pre-order and in the email with the digital download it says the vinyl will ship later this week. on the webpage where they're selling it it still says it ships in October, haha. I've heard that getting vinyl pressed up in the U.S. is kind of a moving target nowadays as far as getting a solid date.

dmr, Monday, 9 September 2013 21:49 (twelve years ago)

none of the singles worked for me entirely on their own but for some reason i'm really loving the album

kraudive, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 21:36 (twelve years ago)

Still don't think I ever heard anything by these guys but I guess I should now.

Also I want to know what electricsound's initial posts were about! Um, if he wants to share.

Dora Viola G. I. de Orellana Dysart Plantagenet Tollemache-Tolle (c sharp major), Friday, 13 September 2013 09:50 (twelve years ago)

I listened to this once and wasn't quite feeling it but I probably shouldn't have listened immediately after the new NIN. Think I need to get into more of a Carl Craig mindset with it.

Matt DC, Friday, 13 September 2013 09:55 (twelve years ago)

The tracks don't seem to shine individually but the album as a whole is a great listen.

This has basically nothing to do with Interpol at all and sounds like Factory Floor hitting their Technique period slightly early? It's amazing, tho.

The new Gabe Gurnsey album Diablo is wonderful, from what I've heard so far. Definitely the houseier side of the Factory Floor sound. Lead single Push is a banger.

The Ghost Club, Monday, 10 October 2022 05:17 (three years ago)

Agree! It feels like New Order/Cabs comfort food, pretty similar to what LoneLady has been doing. The previous one was good, this one is better though I can't decide if I like the vocals or not.
