one of my college roommates loved "Bostich" because he thought dude was shouting "EVERYBODY! PIZZA PARTY!"
― Lil Swayne of Pie (DJP), Tuesday, 14 August 2012 20:22 (thirteen years ago)
i imagine the singer of bostich hollering it out dressed as a ringmaster in the middle of a circus. oh yeah always reminds me of ferris bueller.

(even when not listening to this song)
it's all about the 'Pinball Cha Cha' around here!
― Mark G, Tuesday, 14 August 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)
think i'd give the edge to "bostich". i probably like "i love you" or "vicious games" better than either tho

O yeh overplayed,. so...
― Mark G, Tuesday, 14 August 2012 20:41 (thirteen years ago)
Ha, I wrote about the "EVERYBODY! PIZZA PARTY!" thing toward the bottom of this, just a couple months ago:

Anyway, definitely voting "Bostich."

Recall one word Xgau review of some Yello album simply as "chickenshi."
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 21 August 2012 00:10 (thirteen years ago)
seems to have been a "distinctions not cost-effective" review of the band in general
― contenderizer, Tuesday, 21 August 2012 00:34 (thirteen years ago)
For a perverse second I though this was 'Oh Yeah' (Can) vs. 'Bostich' (Yello).
I guess that's a different poll.
― Lewis Apparition (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 00:39 (thirteen years ago)
"Bostich" is damn near perfect; I could listen to it every day for all my life. "Oh Yeah" I do not ever need to hear again. So.
(Well, I used to actively hate "Oh Yeah" but now I am running it through in my head - can't listen to the real thing right now - it seems kind of charming, so I may need to revisit it after all. But the answer is still very much Bostich.)

haha here I've been all these years thinking I was the only person who really, really adored "Bostich"
― Lil Swayne of Pie (DJP), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 14:32 (thirteen years ago)
"Oh Yeah" is better than the original "Bostich", because it has that awesome Yello sound (the deeeep bassline, the ingenious use of samples and sonic snippets) which they didn't yet have in 1980, as they were still just an offbeat new wave act. However, Westbam's 1994 remix (the 3 minute version, not the 5 minute "Rush Push" mix, which speds up the tune too much) of "Bostich" takes the best parts of the original (those inimitable Dieter Meier vocals, the percussion shuffle) and makes it into a 303 dancefloor killer that's better than either the original version of the tune, or "Oh Yeah".

if this is what you mean, it's a good remix, yeah, but i don't prefer it to the original. can see why others might. smokes.

Of course, neither of these tunes can hold a candle to Domingo de Santa Clara, the man who convinced that there is no Lord (for his name is Buddha, Allah, Shiva, Jahve) outside our bodies.

(x-post)
Yeah, that's the one. There might also be sentimental reasons for liking it, as that was actually the first time I heard Yello. Still, IMO it's one of the top 20 remixes of all time.

Tuomas repping for Westbam vmic
anyway naturally I love Bostich but Oh Yeah is possessed of a magnificence that no amount of overplaying on radio or TV or Michael J Fox comedy films can rob it of.
(Of Course I'm Lying would beat it though)
