I liked their old stuff a lot, not heard their new album, but I dont see why anyone would hate them so much. Esp when Kings Of Leon and Coldplay are around.

i'm not exactly fond of them either, but shit like animal collective really does make me realise that they're fundamentally tolerable and not worth hating on

i like some animal collective stuff, but i can definitely understand someone feeling outsized antipathy for them the same way i do for the flaming lips.

Well, that's quite clearly sarcastic (especially seeing as I have already posted to this thread), but I will clarify: I was offline throughout most of the nomination period due to the utter shiteness of Virgin, and thus missed that round of voting entirely. I have been compiling my list, and was intending to get it in on Wednesday or Thursday, but due to unforseen circumstances I couldn't get online on those days either, so have completely fucked it up.

The only thing that I really care about is that people add 20 extra points to El Guincho and 19 extra to the Chap.

I wish someone had pointed out that Merriweather Post Pavilion was a 2009 album earlier. It really has no place in the poll so I am taking it out. For those of you who voted for it, I will sent you an email and if you respond by tonight you can swap something else in for it. Otherwise, I am going to finish this today so I can start tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm on board with stripping it from the 2008 poll. I'm also on board with loving it, despite hating all the other Animal Collective records.

i gave it one chance and it made me feel nauseous, maybe even worse than that gross panda bear solo record, which i didn't think was possible

I listened to "My Girls" and I like the synth arpeggios and stuff, cause you know, that's totally my thing when done right, but then they ruin it with Beach Boys vocals, which always make me want to curl into the fetal position. Nauseous is absolutely right.
