n.b. I was there the day of the Haight St. Fair. (I did not know that the Haight St. Fair was going on until too late.) I did have some pretty delicious lemonade, so I can't condemn it totally. I think I must have been out of town for it the year I lived in the Haight.

i wonder if they went to jail for 2m in unpaid taxes or for hiring 70 undocumented workers, my guess is if they'd paid the taxes they'd be facing a lighter penalty

Working in a MN record store for many years meant having to hear lots of dudes tell me about Wookiefoot. "I guess their singer spends a lot of his time in Peru. A lot of their lyrics are based on his experiences there." (actually this mighta been the Big Wu.) Selling tickets for all those Harmony Park fests was the fuckin worst.

Sweet jesus. LOL i used to be in a band like this. A dozen members, all dressed in zany clothes, fire dancers & hula hoopers performing during songs. We sounded like orchestral anti-folk/indie rock.

I had friend come back from Harvestfest one year and he was literally unable to stop smiling, turns out that the phrase "open air drug market" wasn't an exaggeration. He said he and his friends dumped coke, molly and speed into a bag and took rips out of it. Didn't sleep for 3 days.

Wookiefoot were playing that year.

They used to open up for shitty nu-metal bands all over southern Wisconsin.

This is def not ironic love from me, just bemused eyeroll. Like, I sorta get the entertainment value of this carnival/bacchanal with 20 people on stage, and snake-dancing women and giant puppets or whatever. But the music is so massively not my thing that I can't even assess it.
