we've got a painfully out of touch article on bath salts
well hey i learned something from it

I enjoyed it myself and didn't find it terribly out of touch; of anything it seemed timely and apt
― shmamille shmaglia (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:53 (thirteen years ago)
it's pretty hilarious to be all indie rocker firsties about bath salts -- spin doesn't understand, maaan, they're just covering it because it's blowing up right now but where were they a year ago?
― Barack 2 Chainz Obama (some dude), Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:01 (thirteen years ago)
at least it's not about the relationship between HIV and AIDS

that is still the weirdest thing ever done by a mainstream publication
but yeah i don't even really know what "bath salts" are so maybe i should read it. i understand today's active teens are really into it.

Responding to questions about the future of SPIN's print side, BuzzMedia CEO Tyler Goldman released a statement saying "We believe there is a unique role for print and see it as another outlet for people to access content about their passion topics... In the longer term, we're still defining how print fits in from a platform perspective." They took a blog that had good writers and an editorial voice and replaced them with some interns who would just regurgitate press releases.

man I'm at an airport in Florida and I just saw an issue of Spin on the newsstand and it's easily the smartest-looking mag in the store. if it's gonna go down it's a shame, aesthetically the recent changes were a blow in favor of good stuff in the world

i'm inclined to agree with aero; the step toward wax poetics anthology and away from RS irrelevancy was/is a good one. if you can't be on top of the scene (and print media renders that impossible) then at least try to be thorough and thoughtful

Hi dere twice now I have clicked on one of those 'Critical Mass' reviews to find that the blurb for the review was, in fact, the whole review and that there was no reason to click on it.
