I guess we could all get one of those google+ group things I see on tv where some girl is getting married and somebody else is cooking and whatever, but I don't want to look at any of you :P
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 29 June 2012 02:55 (thirteen years ago)
I have so much metal I want to subject introduce you guys to!
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 29 June 2012 02:55 (thirteen years ago)
Isn't there something that can be done? I can strong-arm or sweet talk as needed. I def don't need to see anyone though. I just want to listen to/chat about tunes & stuff.
― nicest bitch of poster (La Lechera), Friday, 29 June 2012 02:56 (thirteen years ago)
I don't miss any of you.
― The Reverend, Friday, 29 June 2012 02:58 (thirteen years ago)
We could take up a collection to donate to the programmers to get things up and running again, but I suspect if any of us had that much money to burn we wouldn't be spending our free time on outloud.
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 29 June 2012 02:59 (thirteen years ago)
Aww Rev, you know you miss us.
I don't want to look at any of you :P
Yeah, I don't want to ruin my mental image of all the outloud crew as super-buff hotties.
― emil.y, Friday, 29 June 2012 03:04 (thirteen years ago)
haha - maybe we could limit the visuals to jeff's hamster
― sarahell, Friday, 29 June 2012 03:05 (thirteen years ago)
He is certainly a super buff hottie.
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 29 June 2012 03:08 (thirteen years ago)

― can you believe they put a man otm (loves laboured breathing), Friday, 29 June 2012 04:12 (thirteen years ago)
Makes me really regret all the time I wasted working and not sitting in outloud while the site was still functioning.
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 29 June 2012 04:21 (thirteen years ago)
someone bug keith and stet to make a private one for us
― mookieproof, Friday, 29 June 2012 04:23 (thirteen years ago)
I'm sure we could email the outloud guys and get the scripts or whatever.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 29 June 2012 04:31 (thirteen years ago)
no lie - came home tonight semi-drunk and thought "oh hey maybe people are on outloud" and then INFINITE SADFACE
― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Friday, 29 June 2012 04:51 (thirteen years ago)
new DN: John Justen and the Infinite Sadface
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 29 June 2012 04:55 (thirteen years ago)
But seriously, does somebody want to e-mail them and see if they can get the code?
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 29 June 2012 05:19 (thirteen years ago)
I would if I had any idea what to do with it. I'm guessing there would be no circumvention of its grey-area legality if we made one ilx0rs-only, right? It'd still be a bit dodgy? Otherwise I'd be totally up for puppy-dog-eyes-ing at stet/keith.

http://www.rolling.fm/
Rolling.fm is a part of Tenka.com, a “social media advertising startup” registered to its co-founder and chief product officer Tim Zhou, who was a senior software engineer at Google from April 2008 to June 2010, according to his LinkedIn profile, and worked at IBM before that. His co-creation, whose domain he registered on June 27 — as Turntable.fm was gathering steam — is a group-listening room very much along the lines of Turntable.fm that encourages people to turn themselves into cute little avatars to play music for each other and chat about it; part of a big and growing group-listening phenomenon happening this year. You log in to Rolling.fm with Facebook, just like with Turntable.fm. You “become a DJ to play music for everyone in the room” from either a central catalog or your own hard drive; earn credits for playing stuff people like; vote songs “hot” or “weak”; and use credits to buy new outfits for your avatar. The service is divided into browsable rooms (or you can go to a random one), and as a song loads, the front of the DJ stage displays a pithy, preloaded statement telling you to hold your horses. All of this is precisely identical to Turntable.fm, except the avatars, rooms and people look a little different. Oh, and when you like a song, it’s “hot” instead of “awesome” — dislike it, and it’s “weak” instead of “lame.” Plus, there’s a cat sitting on the speakers and the DJs rotate through to the same laptop instead of using their own.Granted, Rolling.fm brings a few additions to the Turntable.fm feature set, such as the ability to see who is in a room in one big list, and a private chat feature that lets you speak directly to Facebook friends even if they’re in a different room.

Or you can all use Soundrop like everyone else

I really don't like the idea of logging in through facebook - is there another option? Would consider it if enough other people were interested, though. Also, can you start your own room?
the DJs rotate through to the same laptop instead of using their own.
What does this mean? Is it purely cosmetic (the little DJ avatars)?

OK here's an ILX room
― Biff Wellington (WmC), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:30 (thirteen years ago)
emil.y, I thought you accessed Outloud via Facebook
― Biff Wellington (WmC), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:31 (thirteen years ago)
that hideous GUI is the most succient argument for outloud one could wish for
come back outloud, all your myriad weird glitches are forgiven
― dis civilization and its contents (nakhchivan), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:37 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, this is pretty gross. Couldn't play a song because not enough people were in the room. Fuck this.
― Biff Wellington (WmC), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:39 (thirteen years ago)
succinct xp
― dis civilization and its contents (nakhchivan), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:40 (thirteen years ago)
Oh crap, was off doing something else - are people still in there or not?
WmC, I accessed Outloud through twitter.
― emil.y, Friday, 29 June 2012 23:46 (thirteen years ago)
Use your credits to buy awesome outfits.

I'm in.
― emil.y, Friday, 29 June 2012 23:52 (thirteen years ago)
ugh, .m4a files not supported -- this thing is just crap all the way around
― Biff Wellington (WmC), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:53 (thirteen years ago)
it looks...unlike Outloud
― recordbreaking transfer to Lucknow FC (seandalai), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:55 (thirteen years ago)
judging by the interface it wasn't merely designed for tweens, it was designed by getting some really angry and stupid tweens to threaten some other tweens and force them to imagine what sort of interface the really angry and stupid ones would like
― dis civilization and its contents (nakhchivan), Friday, 29 June 2012 23:56 (thirteen years ago)
Actually, one thing I like about it is that it seems to let you upload a bunch of songs you want to play, and then to add them to the room list at your leisure - so you can queue lots of things to the site but leak them out later. Or it seems like that's the theory, anyway.
― emil.y, Friday, 29 June 2012 23:58 (thirteen years ago)
To be honest, if its functionality is okay, I could get used to the stupid gimmicky avatars and shit.
How much of a hassle is no m4as, WmC? I only ever use mp3s, so...
― emil.y, Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:04 (thirteen years ago)
at least it works I guess
― recordbreaking transfer to Lucknow FC (seandalai), Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:04 (thirteen years ago)
chat not working
― it looks like something rupert the bear would wear (Algerian Goalkeeper), Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:05 (thirteen years ago)
Wait, AG's just said that he sees no chat... have I been blathering to myself, then? Nobody else can see what I've said?
xpost - yeah, that.
― emil.y, Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:05 (thirteen years ago)
I posted chat stuff, but it sounds like nobody saw it.
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:06 (thirteen years ago)
my grafitti didnt even show up
― it looks like something rupert the bear would wear (Algerian Goalkeeper), Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:07 (thirteen years ago)
I see Jeff's but not AG's. And mine is the only chat I see. Bugger.
― emil.y, Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:07 (thirteen years ago)
I'm trying 'add friend' to see if that makes a difference. Though that's still hella bad design if you have to do that to chat.
― emil.y, Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:08 (thirteen years ago)
so you have to be "friends" to chat with people?
― recordbreaking transfer to Lucknow FC (seandalai), Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:09 (thirteen years ago)
This is terrible.
― Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:11 (thirteen years ago)
Could anyone see my chat after we friended each other?
― emil.y, Saturday, 30 June 2012 00:12 (thirteen years ago)
it seems kind of buggy
