God bless them. I hope that Avey Tare eventually comes around to making more "pop" records at some point, though. I think that melody, lyrics, and structure suits their style very well. I can appreciate the crazier, more free-form music, but it doesn't move me nearly as much.

jane is a duo featuring panda bear (under his own name) and another party i wasn't able to place. very beat-oriented, possibly even clubby. i have no idea where their cdrs might be available, i got a copy from a friend of a friend, who found it in a used been in a store that isn't around anymore in houston.

but as far as the AT & PB stuff is concerned, what little I've heard all sounds like Cornelius.
― Roger, Friday, 6 February 2004 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)
Roger, have you only heard Spirit...? If you like TT I would reccomend Here Comes the Indian esp the "Two Sails" and "Infant Dressing Table" tracks.

i was expecting some sort of fried elephant six acid folk - instead i got dense sheets of tape manipulation and scary noises. i honestly feel this stuff is closer to stockhausen than elephant six.
i've heard some live jackie o motherfucker bootlegs (very heavy on turntables) that start to approximate the sound but yeah, it's very very tapeloop/effects heavy.
― vahid (vahid), Friday, 6 February 2004 23:15 (twenty-two years ago)
The new record, recorded as a duo of AT and PB, is maybe the most acid folk material thus far. It is mainly acoustic guitars, fun percusion, and catchy (but still fucked) songwriting.

"defeat" has more than a little side 5 of tales from topographic oceans realness
definitely in A) the sheer amount of lyrics and B) the fact that it takes forever to get going
I like it more than any of the TFTO tracks as a whole though
hearing this live was probably one of my coolest show experiences ever - I try to not look at setlists beforehand, all I knew was they were likely gonna play some new stuff. I had no idea they were gonna play so much of it, much less a tune that was 23 minutes long. once it got to the ending bit I remember looking behind me and just seeing a sea of transfixed faces, nobody was talking or making any noise. I've never quite seen a general admission concert get like that before.

At the show i went to, my friend wouldn’t shut up his mouth through the whole thing. Still good though.

I keep forgetting about this.

So have most publication year end lists, so you’re not alone!
― The Triumphant Return of Bernard & Stubbs (Raymond Cummings), Saturday, 2 December 2023 17:04 (two years ago)
you know what I actually like the way the album ends. I think given the downtrodden nature of the album and the fact that it's starting to set in just how long these guys have been together ending on a acapella track like that is a cool idea. like one of those in the end we've all still got each other sorta vibes. "All the Clubs are Broken" is the one that really doesn't fit, I actually dig it a lot but it doesn't belong here

I kinda love the new Geologist record. Can't really say it's that special, it just reminds me of old noise/processed guitar albums like Growing. I'm old. But I like it!
― Frederik B, Wednesday, 26 February 2025 09:32 (one year ago)
I really love the first couple Growing albums so my interest is piqued

Sounds like they've gone back to sounding kind of obnoxious again. That's some horrible production
I dig it, then again I thought Centipede Hz was pretty underrated
― frogbs, Wednesday, 25 June 2025 15:01 (eleven months ago)
this is in a weird space where it's a bit too muddy but also not blown out enough?
― ufo, Wednesday, 25 June 2025 15:17 (eleven months ago)
a little too much Beach Boys for me on first listen
― sleeve, Wednesday, 25 June 2025 15:19 (eleven months ago)
interesting choice of drum sound
