didn't think it was really missing anything before but it definitely feels more complete now, love the bridge xpost

Brevity was a big part of Adorn's mystique, but I'm not one to complain about more of a good thing.
One of the blogs I follow shared the track and teased "Bigger news to follow..." which I can only imagine means an album announcement.

lovely.
this morning "Arch n Point" became my most played 2012 song.

literally just clapped my hands to the side of my face and exclaimed "OH MY FUCKING LORD" when I got to the end of the new version

why isn't rev one of those people that does youtube reaction videos as he's listening to records for the first time

i don't really feel that this adds much to the song, and the false stop is kind of jarring, but it's fine
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:29 (fourteen years ago)
on the other hand if this is your first time hearing it there's no sense that the song faffs around.
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:31 (fourteen years ago)
yeah it still sounds weird to me... but i don't think that's really unexpected considering how attached i am to the original version
it still sounds great tho, and i feel less weird about naming it my favorite song of 2012 (so far) now that it's an actual single
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:36 (fourteen years ago)
I feel like the best song of the year just got ten times better.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:39 (fourteen years ago)
and yeah his voice is terrific. As much as I love the tension borne of restraint in A&P the abandon in "All" and the love-man vigor here are just as satisfying.
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:40 (fourteen years ago)
that new 'pop' sound is kinda weird
― Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:42 (fourteen years ago)
'pop' sound?

― Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:45 (fourteen years ago)
high pitched water drop
― Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:46 (fourteen years ago)
When you have the best fucking song of the year, you can get away with teasing people for four months before the climax.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:46 (fourteen years ago)
does anyone have a link to an interview in which he discusses writing and recording these EPs?
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 21:48 (fourteen years ago)
i haven't seen one...

this was on the original version too, at least mine
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:03 (fourteen years ago)
well it is and it isn't - something like it is there but not so high pitched and forward in the mix
― Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:05 (fourteen years ago)
oh I dunno -- it was always prominent
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:09 (fourteen years ago)
112 'Cupid' is still the best song featuring the water drop.
― Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)
maybe I just have an earlier mixed version of the 2:19 one? xp

i was thinking about starting a thread on this actually. "laundromat" all the way

Brainwasher, Rev and I did an outoud.fm theme night on this, it turned up some great jams.
― Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:16 (fourteen years ago)
Ha, I forgot about that. Earliest example I can think of is Prince's "Crazy You"
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 27 June 2012 22:34 (fourteen years ago)
anyone have a download?

I listened to the new versh on headphones and yeah the little 'pop' sound is not very noticeable, it really pops on my speakers tho
― Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Thursday, 28 June 2012 01:54 (fourteen years ago)
this has been your 'pop' update
― Faith in Humanity: Restored (dayo), Thursday, 28 June 2012 01:56 (fourteen years ago)
definitely sticks out more in this mix, i feel like the bassline is more at the forefront, too.
― The Reverend, Thursday, 28 June 2012 02:23 (fourteen years ago)
miguel is so good w/ backing vocals. i could listen to an entire album of his just layering oohs and ahhs w/o even writing actual "songs"
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 28 June 2012 03:34 (fourteen years ago)
not sure how I'd restrain myself if I watched him record the "ahhhs" in "All"
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 28 June 2012 12:07 (fourteen years ago)
fuck it, everybody's selfish
― The Reverend, Thursday, 28 June 2012 22:02 (fourteen years ago)
Not sure the extra bit of Adorn really makes it a measurably better or worse song, but that's mostly cause it was already great.
Arch N Point also my most played 2012 track thus far.
― to welcome jer.fairall, pie is served. (jer.fairall), Friday, 29 June 2012 00:46 (fourteen years ago)
i dunno if it feels obvious to anyone else but it seems really clear to me that "Adorn" was 3 minutes long to begin with and the first version released was truncated, rather than the ending being added after the fact. the awkward 'ooh ooh' on the original ending actual fits now.
― goonrise zingdom (some dude), Friday, 29 June 2012 03:26 (fourteen years ago)
actually
I kinda doubt that. Seems like his label decided they wanted to push it and needed a more conventional structure/length.
― The Reverend, Friday, 29 June 2012 03:42 (fourteen years ago)
hopefully someone will ask him in an interview at some point, i'm genuinely curious
― goonrise zingdom (some dude), Friday, 29 June 2012 03:47 (fourteen years ago)
ditto
― The Reverend, Friday, 29 June 2012 03:54 (fourteen years ago)
Not much to add. Art Dealer Chic EPs are the shit. But hey, let's make a pact not to mention Prince for a while, let this breathe.
