"Welcome To The Black Parade" was a heartbreaking falloff from "Helena" and "I'm Not Okay" imo

Al you are insane. Granted, I already admitted that I don't think I have ever heard another MCR song but I can say with absolute certainty that TBP is their best.

Pretty good list, magnificent compared to the previous 00s lists. Voted MCR over Killers (although I'd take AFI's Decemberunderground over The Black Parade easily). I like the songs by SoaD, Foo Fighters, AFI, Raconteurs, and Pearl Jam. I have fond memories of drunkenly singing along to a lot of this shit with my roommate and neighbour in 06-07.

I never liked The Black Parade nearly as much as Three Cheers but I'm surprised that "Welcome..." wouldn't appeal at all to someone who loved the earlier album. It's not "Helena" but nothing is.

I never bothered to check out Mesmerize/Hypnotize, I think because I didn't find the singles as compelling as those from Toxicity. This thread is making me think I should give them a shot some time.

yeah they're solid records, def worth hearing for any fans of the first 2 albums. some days Mezmerize is my favorite SOAD album.

I have never heard "Tell Me Baby," "Anna-Molly," "The Animal I've Become" or even knew that a band named 10 Years existed. I feel like dancing.

"DOA" "Perfect Situation" & "World Wide Suicide" would some of the better later songs by those guys, but I think I have to go with "When We Were Young"

10 Years is the first band since the early '90s I had never heard of when compiling this list.

K-Rock in New York played "Cigaro" a month or so before playing "BYOB" and I recall thinking it was the heaviest song to ever receive such frequent spins on a major commercial rock station, which might be correct.

I've grown to enjoy MCR's "Teenagers."

yeah "Dead!" and "Teenagers" are aight but the album as a whole is a wash imo. last album was great but nobody cared because they took 4 fuckin years to make it.

I kind of thought "Teenagers" was the hokiest thing on there, actually. On the other hand, it's one of the only two songs I remember from the album so that's something.

Danger Days is good like Three Cheers is good? I should give it a chance. You guys were totally right about Folie à Deux after all.

Three Cheers is by far their best, even Black Parade stans can't front on that

SOAD's "Sugar" seemed pretty atonal and frenzied for alt-rock stations back in 1999 to me.

oh yeah, i totally didn't get them at first -- my cooler-than-i-realized-at-the-time friend who also played me Aquemeni for the first time had to convince me of how great "Sugar" was

I have to admit that Gerard Way's vocals aren't really holding up as great as I might have liked.

ha Sugar might still be SOAD's finest moment

"Sugar" is great (but is surely not atonal). Crystallizes all the things I like about them: clever range of vocal styles, stop-start rhythmic mania, weirdly hooky dissonant riff.

kind of sorry "DOA" got a goose-egg, it's zippy enough that having dave grohl sing about a suicide blonde or what-the-fuck-ever is funny rather than sad.

also the "nothing like the taste of sweet decline" verse stuff always reminds me of the "words all fail the magic prize" part of "add it up"

I've been on a bit of a MCR kick since this poll. The Black Parade actually sounds much better now. There are some good songs on Danger Days but I'm not sure yet what to make of it.
