Radio/Video and Lost in Hollywood should've been singles.

there isn't a single song on this list I really like. gonna have to sit this one out.

the SOAD and My Chem songs are goon-rock canon
― la musica de harry frogbs (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 00:43 (thirteen years ago)
SOAD, no hesitation.

"Welcome To The Black Parade" was a heartbreaking falloff from "Helena" and "I'm Not Okay" imo
no wai
― la musica de harry frogbs (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 00:48 (thirteen years ago)
shit was like "Stone Cold Crazy" into "Bohemian Rhapsody"
― la musica de harry frogbs (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 00:49 (thirteen years ago)
Al you are insane. Granted, I already admitted that I don't think I have ever heard another MCR song but I can say with absolute certainty that TBP is their best.
― (✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 01:59 (thirteen years ago)
yeah it's pretty insane to have opinions about songs i've actually heard

Pretty good list, magnificent compared to the previous 00s lists. Voted MCR over Killers (although I'd take AFI's Decemberunderground over The Black Parade easily). I like the songs by SoaD, Foo Fighters, AFI, Raconteurs, and Pearl Jam. I have fond memories of drunkenly singing along to a lot of this shit with my roommate and neighbour in 06-07.
I never liked The Black Parade nearly as much as Three Cheers but I'm surprised that "Welcome..." wouldn't appeal at all to someone who loved the earlier album. It's not "Helena" but nothing is.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 03:27 (thirteen years ago)
I never bothered to check out Mesmerize/Hypnotize, I think because I didn't find the singles as compelling as those from Toxicity. This thread is making me think I should give them a shot some time.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 03:32 (thirteen years ago)
yeah they're solid records, def worth hearing for any fans of the first 2 albums. some days Mezmerize is my favorite SOAD album.
― some dude, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 03:37 (thirteen years ago)
Not feeling this list at all. Voting AFI just because I like their first couple of records, so I might as well.
― Regional Tug (irrational), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 03:57 (thirteen years ago)
only recognize like half these titles, but the ones i do recognize all gargle turds
― Black_vegeta (Hungry4Ass), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 04:15 (thirteen years ago)
Voting Anna Molly just over the SOAD tune.
― robert mcnamara in reverse (loves laboured breathing), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 04:24 (thirteen years ago)
I have never heard "Tell Me Baby," "Anna-Molly," "The Animal I've Become" or even knew that a band named 10 Years existed. I feel like dancing.
― da croupier, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 05:22 (thirteen years ago)
"DOA" "Perfect Situation" & "World Wide Suicide" would some of the better later songs by those guys, but I think I have to go with "When We Were Young"
― da croupier, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 05:24 (thirteen years ago)
10 Years is the first band since the early '90s I had never heard of when compiling this list.
― LimbsKing, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 13:31 (thirteen years ago)
Agree w/this.

only song on black parade i really enjoy is "dead!"

rest is just a little too styx

K-Rock in New York played "Cigaro" a month or so before playing "BYOB" and I recall thinking it was the heaviest song to ever receive such frequent spins on a major commercial rock station, which might be correct.
― billstevejim, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 17:34 (thirteen years ago)
I've grown to enjoy MCR's "Teenagers."
― billstevejim, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 17:36 (thirteen years ago)
yeah "Dead!" and "Teenagers" are aight but the album as a whole is a wash imo. last album was great but nobody cared because they took 4 fuckin years to make it.
― here's my lumber, so jack me maybe (some dude), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 17:37 (thirteen years ago)
cannot at all understand these opinions about black parade but hey yeah danger days was totally great, yeah
― Whiney vs. (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 17:38 (thirteen years ago)
teenagers is awesome
― Black_vegeta (Hungry4Ass), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 17:42 (thirteen years ago)
I kind of thought "Teenagers" was the hokiest thing on there, actually. On the other hand, it's one of the only two songs I remember from the album so that's something.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 17:45 (thirteen years ago)
Helena's hokey too, but it owns

their biggest hits are power ballads and a cover of fucking "Bad Company" though

black parade is a great album goddamn you all
― Whiney vs. (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago)
Danger Days is good like Three Cheers is good? I should give it a chance. You guys were totally right about Folie à Deux after all.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 18:18 (thirteen years ago)
Three Cheers is by far their best, even Black Parade stans can't front on that
― here's my lumber, so jack me maybe (some dude), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 18:21 (thirteen years ago)
oh wait n/m that wasn't your question -- Danger Days is not AS good but it's worth checking out
― here's my lumber, so jack me maybe (some dude), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 18:22 (thirteen years ago)
SOAD's "Sugar" seemed pretty atonal and frenzied for alt-rock stations back in 1999 to me.
― LimbsKing, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 18:36 (thirteen years ago)
oh yeah, i totally didn't get them at first -- my cooler-than-i-realized-at-the-time friend who also played me Aquemeni for the first time had to convince me of how great "Sugar" was
― here's my lumber, so jack me maybe (some dude), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)
I have to admit that Gerard Way's vocals aren't really holding up as great as I might have liked.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 20 June 2012 03:18 (thirteen years ago)
ha Sugar might still be SOAD's finest moment
― robert mcnamara in reverse (loves laboured breathing), Wednesday, 20 June 2012 03:51 (thirteen years ago)
"Sugar" is great (but is surely not atonal). Crystallizes all the things I like about them: clever range of vocal styles, stop-start rhythmic mania, weirdly hooky dissonant riff.

kind of sorry "DOA" got a goose-egg, it's zippy enough that having dave grohl sing about a suicide blonde or what-the-fuck-ever is funny rather than sad.
― da croupier, Friday, 22 June 2012 00:07 (thirteen years ago)
also the "nothing like the taste of sweet decline" verse stuff always reminds me of the "words all fail the magic prize" part of "add it up"
― da croupier, Friday, 22 June 2012 00:09 (thirteen years ago)
yeah "DOA" is pretty good
i like most Raconteurs songs but not the actual popular one
― here's my lumber, so jack me maybe (some dude), Friday, 22 June 2012 00:43 (thirteen years ago)
I've been on a bit of a MCR kick since this poll. The Black Parade actually sounds much better now. There are some good songs on Danger Days but I'm not sure yet what to make of it.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Monday, 25 June 2012 20:42 (thirteen years ago)
The Black Parade actually sounds much better now.
Maybe because I was just listening for hooks, without expecting it to be more like Three Cheers? Not sure what the difference is.
