misread a kitty pryde song title as "hittin 'ILX" and thought, "ohhhh shit"

saw her open for danny brown (day after dick-sucking incident)

i like some of her songs but couldn't really work up a strong opinion about her set. the backing tracks were very very different from the stuff she's "released." it was more aggressive. i don't think it did her many favors since the lushness of some of her production + her absentminded sheepish flow is what makes the good tracks good

but i feel like i have to apologize on behalf of men to her. she was wandering around during DB's set and had to put up with guys groping her, often putting their hands suggestively on her shoulder. one tried to wrap his arm around her waist. she just walked away with an angry/exasperated expression so i guess she can handle it but it was gross to watch. (maybe not as gross as watching danny brown get violated by some girl in the first row, though.) wtf males?

liked her noisey piece/essay/whatever on the incident. a bit overstated & defensive towards the end, but mostly otm and worth a read.

i'm really surprised we didn't discuss that whole incident on ILX. it really begs for a long drawn-out discussion with lots of nabisco posts.

also it's weird how many folks on this thread assume she _is_ the persona projected by her songs. among other things it's clearly calculated to wind up critics.

So she's either genuinely really bratty and annoying or is just pretending to be, cool, radical, she's amazing.

yeah. the whole show had a weird vibe, but maybe that's just this tour

kitty pryde is awesome. her xanned out, detached flow is really hypnotic and, i think, fairly unique. there will always be something glamorous to me about teenage apathy.

she (and danny brown) are reacting like people are horrified because she was heckled, when people are actually horrified that she was being heckled using sexually demeaning language that directly referred to her defending the headliner that the hecklers were presumably there to see (though apparently she shouldn't have bothered since DB basically undermined her defense)

if people were just booing and saying "you suck" no one would care

that's exactly it, it sounds like it was just a couple of people at a show being jerks and prolly not even on danny brown's radar at the time and no one, even kitty, really cares all too much except the outrage factories on the internet
