x-post - lol I probably would too.

TY, Mr. Strongo. You are a voice of reason.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:12 (fourteen years ago)

also death is too good for those responsible for both these songs.

I'm confident that Ms. Moore, should we ask, would agree.

gotta be honest, 'we are young' sounded fantastic at the mall of georgia last friday night.

balls, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

okay i know "we are young" except i had never heard the verses before and they are unfortunate

horseshoe, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:19 (fourteen years ago)

strongo!

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:20 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like if i met mandy moore i might actually say, "omg you're so pretty!" so it's really a blessing i never meet famous people i'm borderline obsessed with.

tbf your actual reaction would probably be "omg you're so tall!"

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:21 (fourteen years ago)

MM and I are the same height. She was prob wearing heels when you met her too.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:43 (fourteen years ago)

Why do I know that? I shouldn't know that.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:44 (fourteen years ago)

whoa cool al

goole, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:46 (fourteen years ago)

also not that i've heard a marimba in a while but i'm p sure it isn't a marimba

So am I. It sounds like a xylophone to me.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 01:48 (fourteen years ago)

enbb you're so tall!

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:11 (fourteen years ago)

:p

I assume Mr. Adams was not with her or you'd have mentioned it, right?

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:18 (fourteen years ago)

yeah didn't see him anywhere, think she just had a manager dude and the aforementioned incompetent people from the company she was a spokesperson for

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:23 (fourteen years ago)

i heard "somebody that i used to know" on the radio approximately 500 times this weekend and it totally worked and has been in my head all day and the first thing i did when i got home today was watch the video on youtube.

i predict i will hate it in 2 days.

"we are young" - i originally thought it was a woman singing this but its not! i also at one point thought it was the arcade fire, but i guess its also not.

bene_gesserit, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:27 (fourteen years ago)

when i initially saw the "Somebody" video i was all oh fuck this shit and would turn off the song every time it came on for a month or two, but eventually tolerance turned to a pretty strong fondness

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:29 (fourteen years ago)

curious to see how well it does on Pazz & Jop, may even be on my ballot

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:30 (fourteen years ago)

I will admit that it's been running through my head all day. I am blaming you, fyi.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:32 (fourteen years ago)

:)

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:37 (fourteen years ago)

these songs are about as alternative as steve winwood

― da croupier, Monday, June 11, 2012 3:03 PM (7 hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

btw it is adorable that you can say this with any degree of seriousness or conviction

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:41 (fourteen years ago)

this blows goats

gotye vs goat eyes

am0n, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:58 (fourteen years ago)

it is adorable to find myself quoted after catching up on this thread through an endless mandy moore tangent

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 02:58 (fourteen years ago)

this whole thing couldn't be more adorable if it was a mandy moore movie

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:00 (fourteen years ago)

i'm glad you agree my snark from 7 hours ago is more interesting than all this shit

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:00 (fourteen years ago)

anyhow i'll admit this stuff is more alternative than winwood, though I'm not sure it's much more alternative than the work of the former kara's flowers

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:02 (fourteen years ago)

"alternative" is a slippery, ephemeral concept. mandy moore is a real person who shook my hand.

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:04 (fourteen years ago)

^ that's like what someone says when they wake up in the police station

goole, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:05 (fourteen years ago)

I'm kind of annoyed when this thread stops talking about the cool Mandy Moore stuff

Word of Wisdom Robots (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:05 (fourteen years ago)

seriously

so grumpy!

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:06 (fourteen years ago)

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

<3!

Word of Wisdom Robots (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

YOU FIXED HER TELEPROMPTER

Word of Wisdom Robots (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

hey i love mandy moore but i wouldn't want her in some ilx chart chatter any more than i'd want her in a friday the 13th movie

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

it was a meet-cute!

xp gtfo

horseshoe, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

keep my sex and and my vomit-churning gore/gotye separate, thank you

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

but she is a joy and both of these songs are so dull

Word of Wisdom Robots (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

was she in one of those? damn i need to see that (xpost)

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

The other day, I saw this group of young people, upper middle school maybe, or maybe high school, walking down the street some sunny afternoon, sharing earbuds and belting "We Are Young" at the top of their young lungs, and I thought, man, fuck you young people.

Anyway, if it's the end of the night, and the bar is closing down, why does the song's singer need to reiterate that he'll take you home ... tonight? It's redundant. Like "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight." When else is he going to take you home tonight? Tomorrow?

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:09 (fourteen years ago)

lol i just remembered -- the mandy moore thing was a big girl scout gathering at the washington monument, as i was leaving afterward i heard some girl scouts singing "we are young" v enthusiastically

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:10 (fourteen years ago)

It didn't have to be her who sang it, but it needs to be a duet.

Well yeah because it has two parts narratively

I am 98% sure that she does a better job than B1asko would have though

┗|∵|┓ (sic), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:10 (fourteen years ago)

the mandy moore thing was a big girl scout gathering at the washington monument

okay are you sure you aren't apearing in the upcoming Mandy Moore Romantic Comedy Project

horseshoe, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:12 (fourteen years ago)

90% sure

the week before i was at the monument for a cancer walk thing and ran the prompter for Gabrielle Union, didn't get to meet her though

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:16 (fourteen years ago)

should probably start a 77 rolling scrolling teleprompter adventures threads so i don't make a habit of mucking up threads w/ namedropping, but the mandy moore thing itt could not be unremarked upon

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:17 (fourteen years ago)

wolf kabob (ENBB), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:19 (fourteen years ago)

whiney was v incredulous when i registered surprise that he's into "we are young" on some other thread

shipl.de.al (some dude), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:22 (fourteen years ago)

voted for fun. i'm definitely over "we are young" at this point, but think the album as a whole is great. it'll probably end up in my top ten for the year.

gotye song is the worst.

alpine static, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 03:51 (fourteen years ago)

otm

Whiney vs. (BradNelson), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 04:01 (fourteen years ago)

now listening to the acoustic version of "Why Am I The One" you posted in the Format thread, BradNelson...dudes are talented, songs are strong...when this is the stuff that's topping the charts, the world is OK

alpine static, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 04:19 (fourteen years ago)

gotye tune is a jam, voted that

omar little, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 04:23 (fourteen years ago)

fun. album is prolly not gonna be top 10 for me, but maybe top 20
