xp wtf just spent the last 20 minutes making a spotify playlist out of these.. and then i hit refresh

billstevejim, Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:30 (fourteen years ago)

like beez in the trap because of the me against the world feel of it, also it's kind of raw like a milli

un® (dayo), Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:33 (fourteen years ago)

RIDIN ROUND WITH THAT NINA!!!!!!!

crüt, Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

The Beez in the Trap beat is great but I can't get over my intense distaste for Nicki Minaj/Young Money. It is pretty demented that there's a huge pop song right now that's just a tritone repeating over and over again.

crüt, Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

also the chorus is dumb as hell (says the guy who's voting for Ca$h Out)

crüt, Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

it's definitely kinda awkward which is why I like it

un® (dayo), Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

kenoe is a dope producer who should get hired for big name stuff more often

littledotheyknow (D-40), Saturday, 9 June 2012 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

i really hate soda commercials on the radio or TV where you hear the sound effects
of

*PSSSSSH* --guk guk guk guk-- *AHHHHHHHHH*

I have to tell you goons, listening to the Kirko Bangz song is like fucking torture to me. I think hearing that song for me is like when other people open the Tryptophobia thread

la musica de harry frogbs (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 12 June 2012 04:49 (fourteen years ago)

lol

it's a pretty weak track imo. I always have to stop myself from literally rolling my eyes when it slows down.

crüt, Tuesday, 12 June 2012 05:01 (fourteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Wednesday, 13 June 2012 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

bump for last minute votes!

some dude, Wednesday, 13 June 2012 22:36 (fourteen years ago)

Almost missed this. Top five in no order:

Drake f/ Rihanna - “Take Care”
Nicki Minaj f/ 2 Chainz – “Beez In The Trap”
J. Cole f/ Missy Elliott – “Nobody’s Perfect”
Future f/ T.I. – “Magic”
Future - "Same Damn Time"

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Thursday, 14 June 2012 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

ugh

some dude, Thursday, 14 June 2012 00:35 (fourteen years ago)

Not at all crazy about "Cashin' Out."

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 14 June 2012 00:42 (fourteen years ago)

it kind of interests me that it's still possible for a rapper to have a hit as big as Ca$h Out or LoveRance do without having any real public profile or identity beyond that song

some dude, Thursday, 14 June 2012 00:45 (fourteen years ago)

its esp fascinating with loverance b/c the song is so mind-numbingly generic imo

littledotheyknow (D-40), Thursday, 14 June 2012 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

lurkers and herbs AT THE SAME DAMN TIME

i like that loverance beat a lot

J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 June 2012 05:11 (fourteen years ago)

"cashin' out," while good, is pretty damn generic too

bronytheus (some dude), Thursday, 14 June 2012 11:23 (fourteen years ago)

one thing that really bugs me about "mercy" is how needlessly redundant the chorus

lamborghini mercy, your chick she so thirsty
i'm in the two seat lambo with your girl she tryna jerk me

like, y'all already established that you're in the lambo with my girl in the first line! say something else!

idk

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:21 (fourteen years ago)

also pusha t & kanye rapping about blue dolphins and molly is secretly the corniest thing in major rap this year

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:21 (fourteen years ago)

ha the exact same thing about the chorus occurred to me and was bugging me this morning

there is nothing cornier than "your duncan hines is irrelevant"

bronytheus (some dude), Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:24 (fourteen years ago)

i give her that D
cuz that's where i was born and raised in

een, Thursday, 14 June 2012 20:25 (fourteen years ago)

haha

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 14 June 2012 20:49 (fourteen years ago)

radio edit says "at the same same time" which is so stupid

un® (dayo), Thursday, 14 June 2012 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

haha yeah, i just heard that for the first time a couple weeks ago, because 99% of the stations that play it are not afraid of the word "damn" and was like ugh wtf

the big sean line is especially egregious because he's cramming syllables and barely sounding out every word so it ends up a borderline incoherent "i give her that D/ cuz that's where born and raised in"

bronytheus (some dude), Thursday, 14 June 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

i wish there were stations that played "same damn time" here :/

the two rap songs (rappin-ass rap songs, obv) i can think of that have been big on the radio here but not on this list are "function" and "the recipe", both of which are better than most of the songs here

they loooovin the crut (The Reverend), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:21 (fourteen years ago)

i hear a fair amount of "The Recipe" (which i hate) here, but it hadn't quite reached the chart peak of the parameters i set for this poll. haven't heard an E-40 song on the radio since "U & Dat" :(

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:40 (fourteen years ago)

heard "function" in heavy rotation when i was out in LA

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:41 (fourteen years ago)

it's weird... you think that if any east coast city would put e-40 in rotation, it would be baltimore, but shit is still just so segregated

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:41 (fourteen years ago)

"bitch", "my shit bang", and "function" have all gotten at least a smattering of airplay here, nothing from The Ball Street Journal tho

they loooovin the crut (The Reverend), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:42 (fourteen years ago)

40 was always somewhat popular but something of a cult figure here, but My Ghetto Report Card was huuuuuge, both big singles got blanket play for a year or two

they loooovin the crut (The Reverend), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:44 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i had no concept that "Function" was doing anything anywhere until i saw it on a Billboard chart.

i don't know anyone who listens to E-40 here; i did a '20 greatest MCs of all time' radio roundtable thing a few months ago and got a lot of resistance for even bringing up his name.

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:45 (fourteen years ago)

i'm so mad at whoever voted for "HYFR"

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:46 (fourteen years ago)

"superhyphy" and "thizzle dance" both got quite a bit of play at that time too, even tho the latter was a few years old at the time. still hear them on the radio occasionally, esp. "thizzle"

xp haha otm, but not as mad as at whoever voted for "crew love"

they loooovin the crut (The Reverend), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:47 (fourteen years ago)

WE HATIN THE CREWWWW, WE HATIN THE CREWWWWWWWWWWWWW

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:50 (fourteen years ago)

is "HYFR" a dud or just not really been pushed yet?

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:50 (fourteen years ago)

WE LOVVVVVVVVVVIN THE JEWS, WE LOVVVVVVVVVVVVIN THE JEWS

^ my version

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:50 (fourteen years ago)

no votes for shot caller :(

sisilafami, Friday, 15 June 2012 01:51 (fourteen years ago)

it's getting kinda big at the moment, although "crew love" seems to be stealing its momentum a lil bit (to the extent that radio has any hesitation about putting 2 drake songs in rotation at once)

xpost

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:52 (fourteen years ago)

these poll results are 60% young money >:O

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:52 (fourteen years ago)

I still haven't heard Future on the radio at all, although "Racks" and "Tony Montana" seemed popular with people I know. Haven't heard "Magic" or "Same Damn Time" in the wild at all tho. :(

lamborghini persie (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:55 (fourteen years ago)

only 43%

bronytheus (some dude), Friday, 15 June 2012 01:59 (fourteen years ago)

'mercy' has been hitting in a big way for me lately

un® (dayo), Sunday, 17 June 2012 00:33 (thirteen years ago)

need an edit that gets rid of big sean obv

love how 2 chainz sonuds like the climactic finale

un® (dayo), Sunday, 17 June 2012 00:33 (thirteen years ago)

yeah "Mercy" is like the only recent big 2 Chainz guest verse where he rises to the occasion

bronytheus (some dude), Sunday, 17 June 2012 00:49 (thirteen years ago)

yeah

where else has there been talk about 'mercy'? it's basically kanye's take on 'hustle hard' right?

un® (dayo), Sunday, 17 June 2012 00:54 (thirteen years ago)
