I like that alchemist one. What is the music like?

Moodles, Tuesday, 5 June 2012 15:36 (fourteen years ago)

Not out yet, but he's a New York based hip hop producer:

^ Eye-catching but ultimately sort of silly. Have no idea who Human Woman are.

^ quite low-key but I quite like this, it's Doldrums - Egypt

You can do it Sun Myung Moon (NickB), Tuesday, 5 June 2012 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

Like, the VHF Doldrums?

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 5 June 2012 16:41 (fourteen years ago)

doldrums one is great

♆ (gr8080), Tuesday, 5 June 2012 16:53 (fourteen years ago)

No, it's not the VHF one, it's some guy from Canada doing weird lo-fi psychedelic dance music.

That looks like the "Before" of the first Masters of Reality cover.

No, it's not the VHF one

Do people not Google their band name ideas or is it just cool to not care now? Cool album cover though and I even kind of like the song, except the vocals.

strictly shitty piano rock underground (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 05:58 (fourteen years ago)

Do people not Google their band name ideas

Short answer? No.
Long answer? I think we're about out of suitable names if the hundreds of horribly named bands I come across at work every day are any indication. I'd rather have two artists named Doldrums than even one named Stony Danza or Forever The Sickest Kids.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 06:31 (fourteen years ago)

i'll take unique over suitable any time. i'd rather someone call themselves shitfuck mcgillicuddy than be the 53rd band to call themselves spindrift

lawrence and the machine (electricsound), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 06:40 (fourteen years ago)

I'd say the first band to call themselves Spindrift fucked up.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 6 June 2012 06:45 (fourteen years ago)

probably

lawrence and the machine (electricsound), Wednesday, 6 June 2012 06:50 (fourteen years ago)

Doldrums in this case is prolly an Ariel Pink ref no? but yeah it is bone idle and it's not like you even came up with a killer name or anything come on man

what's so notable about that waka album cover?

wack nerd zinging in the dead of night (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 8 June 2012 21:41 (fourteen years ago)

Notably crap obviously.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 8 June 2012 22:06 (fourteen years ago)

yeah but it's so generic either way i don't feel strongly about it

wack nerd zinging in the dead of night (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 8 June 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

True.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 8 June 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)

though i guess just the basic work is pretty bad looking, looks kinda 90s and regional though, which is weird now cuz everyone seems to be a lot slicker at very least

Would never listen to a non-VHF Doldrums on pure principle. Hey look at me, I'm starting a band called Magnog. Ugh, these fucking kids.

Laurel Halo - Quarantine

DavidM, Saturday, 9 June 2012 17:15 (fourteen years ago)

Why did I add the Laurel Halo cover when we've already had it? Argh.

Last couple are good.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Saturday, 9 June 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

Mrs Magician working from the same palette as Carter Tutti Void, Best Coast, etc. Funny when things 'trend' so obviously. Can't accept that this is any more a coincidence than the 'bands with animal and beach-related names' thing

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Saturday, 9 June 2012 19:03 (fourteen years ago)

At least this doesn't give me a headache like the CTV album art does.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 9 June 2012 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

Pretty sure you can trace it back to Merriweather Post Pavillion
