Oh, crap, sorry guys. Just jumped to the bottom w/o reading.

I have a Beatles cover I made 20 years ago, one of the few surviving tapes I have from that long ago, that I just listened to for the first time in eons. I recalled it being a rather dull, straightforward cover. I forgot it featured a cheap vintage keyboard simulating a guitar and a Roland 808 in lieu of Ringo. Would you all rather have this or a newly made recording?

I could get into this. See if I can recruit my gf for vox....

As long as no one claims the song first and you're the one who made the recording, the cover can be 100 years old for all that it matters.

I'm asking for claims and submissions (I feel like an insurance adjustor writing that) to be sent to ilx.beatles.comp @ gmail . com, but I'm not going to be a stickler if someone sends me a webmail through my user name here. Just be aware that I don't check that address so often anymore and submissions made to the beatles.comp address will be taken first.

After Friday, it won't be a big deal. I foresee a quick deluge of claims followed by a summer of relaxin'.

I will say this: I've gotten a few submissions from people who have later admitted they jumped the gun, and I haven't seen one repeat.

And the ones I am seeing, let's just say that this likely won't follow No. 1 to the letter.

So do we not have to wait til Friday to request a song?

The ones who have contacted me prematurely to select a song won't be assigned one officially until I go through the first ones who come in on Friday at the ilx.beatles.comp email address. Those first ones on Friday will be given first choice.

On Monday, 6/4, at no official time, I'll write back to any of the early claimants and if no one has claimed their song over the weekend, I'll confirm their choice. Or they can resend me their request on Friday to get in line to be a little more sure.

I think everyone gets the gist. It sounds more complicated than it is and will be moot in less than a week.

I know this is different than the way these things are handled, where you make a claim on the thread, but I think the element of surprise of seeing MOMUS - HONEY DON'T for the first time will be worth it.

Question: are we allowed to do several tracks in the form of a 'medley', or are we only allowed to do one track and one track only?

I agree that multiple versions would sound cool, but I'm more interested in covering a lot of ground, seeing what songs get taken first, and how it's going to sound when it's put all together. You really want to hear six versions of "Helter Skelter" in that Love mix?

But that said, if someone wants to go all Beatallica and throw in a few riffs from other songs into their mix, that's cool. Lord knows the Beatles themselves pulled that trick a couple of times. Just as long as it's under the umbrella of one song title.

So yeah. No one gets to claim Stars on 45.

whoa, I totally forgot about this, but luckily happened to check ILX at a few minutes past 10 and got my claim in. btw, i only chose one song, and if i don't get it i will switch into sabotage mode and attempt to prevent the entire project from happening using only a broadsword and an unlimited-ride amtrak pass

Good Night is my favourite though. For all that it stays close to the original, it's prettier. I love the primitive-sounding orchestration, it sets it off so well.
