its a good album but a lot of the songs seem a bit light - dont really stick in your mind enough. not as strong as the emancipation album. quite a few of the lyrics seem more moronic than they could be and she does that quick-riffing singing style too frequently - id have liked mariah to do some more considered melodies, esp as she can do them so well when she wants to.

If I Stay In Love, Love Story, Last Kiss and Bye Bye were replaced by 4 awesome songs this album would be as good as mimi. instead they are 4 ehhhh songs.

too many cheap melodies. she can do/deserves better.

migrate, the chorus, really does sound like it's lifting off of some song. geez i had it last week and now i forgot.

that said though, titchy, i think a lot of this isn't cheap at ALL. it's just a percentage thing. mimi's percentage was like too good.

I jus think she played it a bit too safe with this album.. What was so refreshing about mimi was that there was an aspect of mariah that we hadn't really seen before or jus caught glimpses of on

Charmbracelet. This album has very little of that... We've already heard this stuff on mimi so it just doesn't seem very interesting.. Especially the mid-tempo ballads. With the exception of love story.. Love that song.

I'd have loved it if she'd pulled another Glitter on us... The album, not the movie.

its more of a respectable water-treading album, just to keep her current in the current scheme of things, which arguably someone of her vintage shouldnt still be doing.

we put on glitter the other night and it was gooood (the album).

i really like the 2nd half of love story, the verse. that's hot.

and I Stay In Love gets really good in the chorus at the end.

And the quick voice stuff in Last Kiss' verses is awesome.

see that's the thing, i'm ready to write off a song but then it completely flourishes in parts. it's just odd how like toni braxtony some parts feel.

what i love about 'i stay in love' is that even in the middle of a song entirely based around that SHAMELESSLY schmaltzy piano melody, she still finds time to break it down with "what i wanna do / is ride shotgun next to you"

best bit of 'i'll be lovin' u long time' = SCOOP ME UP THEN WE CAN GO, plus the sheer giddy joy on "you can caress my body - AND NEVER LET GO!"

also one of my favourite things about 'migrate' (my all-time favourite bit will 4eva be the ridic opening notes) is how...like, it's a meta club banger, right? the narrative is all about following mimi on a night out? and by the end of the first verse she's got the listener completely primed and totally in the mood for ~moving to the club~ to dance.

so what does she do on the bridge? "uh actually guys i've changed my mind about what to wear and i've suddenly decided to go home and change again. i'll be 4 hours late but who cares!"

A day-by-day account of the filming of Mariah's music video to her new single, "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" in Hawaii by Tim Ryan.

Sunday, June 8
Mariah Carey had a busy day. After keeping her production crew waiting some four hours Sunday she finally arrived in Portlock from the Paul Mitchell Estate in Lanikai to shoot a portion of her music video at the cliffside home of Rob Burns who founded the surf company Local Motion. Problem is Carey had a personal trailer waiting for her at the elementary school in Koko Head where she was to have her hair, makeup and costuming done. The diva's makeup and costumes had to be driven to the cliffside location where she was made up. Filming was completed around sunset and Carey was whisked back to Lanikai where she partied with friends until around 11 p.m. She then was driven to Hawaiian Adventures Water Park for more filming. That shoot lasted to 5 a.m.

Monday, June 9
Today's filming is also at night but at Sea Life Park. If the video is not completed today Carey and accompany will return to SLP tomorrow. Husband Nick Cannon, who arrived Saturday evening, stopped by Tiffany's in Waikiki in a limousine and with a bodyguard on his way to Lanikai to buy his bride some jewelry. Notable security company Private Security owned by Charlie Long has had three guards protecting Carey and company during the shoot. The couple have settled into the Kahala Resort for a few days.

Tuesday, June 10
Mariah Carey pulled another all nighter last night at Sea Life Park where she filmed the remainder of her music video until about 4 a.m. The diva arrived just before 5 p.m. in a white gown. Park security made a sweep of the grounds to make sure visitors were out of the park at the 5 p.m. closing time. Despite the security someone caught most of the filming on a hand held HD camera. Part of the video has Carey on the small island in the dolphin pool. Now that the filming is over Carey and her husband Nick Cannon are enjoying a brief honeymoon at the Kahala Resort.

OOC is such a weird Mariah track i can barely wrap my head around it. It's like Swizz was on some other shit when he made that beat..

the beat is strange, but i looove the song

Bye Bye is some kind of fuckery and I hate it.I Stay In Love is too cute, you can bounce to it even tho its just a progression of 'Shake It Off' but at least she keeps her voice in check for it. 'Loving You Long Time' is sort of epic but I'm not happy that its the next song...maybe she's pacing herself for OOC...speaking of which, the 'its forever' is going to be a classic line.'Love Story' is a step too far off the edge into BLAH but it may worm its way into my conciousness. JD can lay off the 'Ugh, ugh huhs', wtf?!
