my response to this would be, how do you decide where you draw the line? where on the continuum does it stop being ok?

i don't think there is a clear line, and it's often hard to say exactly where a "sort-of-okay (but not really)" type thing slips over into "completely unacceptable" territory. i'm okay with that imprecision, though.

theres an overarching vibe that's like, dang, i thought action bronson was a stand-up dude! & i guess after years of following rap i don't understand the idea of looking to hip hop for guys that you want to hang out with. having hung out with rappers, i feel even less eager about that sort of thing than ever.

not saying there aren't decent ones. but a wholllle lot of them are tremendous assholes ime

also, the correspondence between 'decent ones' and 'make good music' is basically nil

i think part of why i still really like rap is its such an incredibly cynical form of music

oh i dont think the music itself is cynical or nihilistic. but the people involved in creating it often are, very much so
