littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 19:37 (fourteen years ago)

100% garbage

judas, a scary ho (some dude), Sunday, 20 May 2012 19:58 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that's getting a lot of spins up here, of course it's pretty awful -- haven't really been able to stand those EPIC KHALED BANGERS for three years or so now, and oh hey how about chris brown

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

\oO/ i think its a dope pop rap single eff yall

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:24 (fourteen years ago)

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4bzsrpDJc1qil4vvo1_500.jpg

pretty much all the stuff on hear has leaked out already but if you haven't been keeping up with the drip drip GBE leaks this is a good comp

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:25 (fourteen years ago)

was listening to the radio for like an hour today and every song i heard was a doper pop rap single

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

theres nothing out right now really going for that sorta ~epic~ vibe tho

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

i guess, idk -- it's a dj khaled song, it's pretty pro forma "epic"

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

i dont know what you're looking for it to do, i guess this is a matter of whether or not ur feeling the vibe its going for ... personally i think the beat is one of the more affecting on the radio at the moment

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:31 (fourteen years ago)

i guess i've just heard a seemingly infinite number of dj khaled songs that use exactly the same formula that at this point i can't be moved by any of them

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 20:37 (fourteen years ago)

you realized dj khaled did not actually produce this beat, right

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:07 (fourteen years ago)

you realize that every single dj khaled song since "we takin over" has sounded exactly the same, right?

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:08 (fourteen years ago)

and that was five years ago

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:08 (fourteen years ago)

maybe my ears have been poisoned by the fact that khaled works for the no. 1 rap radio station in miami so i've found myself hearing shit like "all i do is win" and "welcome to my hood" more than anyone deserved

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

"im on one" is obv the lone exception there

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

this song sounds nothing like 'we takin over'

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

right, but it sounds exactly like the other ones i mentioned

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:18 (fourteen years ago)

if you wanna say that this song is somehow any different or better than all the other khaled assembly line epic bangers of the last five years because it has some synth bleeps that's fine, but that's a pretty low bar imo

J0rdan S., Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:19 (fourteen years ago)

you're making this way more complicated than it actually is. its a good song b/c its a catchy, well constructed song. i never claimed it was breaking new ground or something.

littledotheyknow (D-40), Sunday, 20 May 2012 21:20 (fourteen years ago)

i'm looking forward to SELF MADE VOL 2 -- tracklist looks pretty promising tbh

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 02:41 (fourteen years ago)

i think of "Take It To The Head" as more of a generic Chris Brown song than a generic DJ Khaled song -- half the time when it comes on it takes me a sec to figure out it's not "Another Round" or some other bullshit. but maybe it's hard for me to think of it as a triumphant Khaled anthem because the phrase "Take It To The Head" means it's a song about fucking in the bathroom. but yeah it's not like shit is any better than "Fed Up" or "Out Here Grindin'" or any of the other dozen forgettable shits he's done the last few years.

"Take It To The Head" means it's a song about fucking in the bathroom.

i can't even tell if this is a joke or not

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 04:40 (fourteen years ago)

i dont really know how to explain why i don't think its generic except that in the context of current rap radio it feels like a breath of fresh air just b/c its aiming for something a lil more grandiose

littledotheyknow (D-40), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 05:35 (fourteen years ago)

the phrase "Take It To The Head" means it's a song about fucking in the bathroom.

uh...what?

lol this is like that time deej thought the squeaky bed sound in trillville's "some cute" was a rocking chair

Peace (peaceful) (The Brainwasher), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 13:37 (fourteen years ago)

ha ok is that newfangled college binge drinker slang or have people been saying that forever? have never heard it but i didn't even do that shit when i was in college

ty for dn btw

some cute (some dude), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 13:43 (fourteen years ago)

i've heard it in plenty of rap songs... this came up recently in the danny brown thread re "blunts to the face"

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 13:45 (fourteen years ago)

i've never heard someone say "take it to the head" irl

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 13:46 (fourteen years ago)

i just assume most rap lyrics are about the toilet i guess

i mean the biggest song of the last year is COME AND MEET ME IN THE BATHROOM STAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

some cute (some dude), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 13:46 (fourteen years ago)

Haha, this track is so much more awesome now!

"Don't be afraid to take it to the head."

MikoMcha, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

i dont think hes using nautical slang

littledotheyknow (D-40), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

i phrased it poorly but to be clear that's what the song means in my head, i don't actually believe it was written to mean that. also i think of it more as regular slang w/ army brat origins, am surprised if none of y'all have ever heard it before.

waggin the cock and flow tit (some dude), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:26 (fourteen years ago)

i see rap radar has decided that keef is the 'flavor of the month'

littledotheyknow (D-40), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:44 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that post was bizarre

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

well not bizarre as much as depressing

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

it was bound to happen. i hope he can drop another hit tho, that song isn't it

littledotheyknow (D-40), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

its just funny to me that they can post slaughterhouse, big sean & rockie fresh tracks & then complain about a keef song. "3hunna" is 10x better than any song they've probably posted in the last month

littledotheyknow (D-40), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

yeah it's pretty shitty that people with that kind of stature still hold that mentality -- one would hope it would've died out like, idk, a decade ago, but oh well

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 22 May 2012 17:53 (fourteen years ago)

tbf being dissed/ignored by rap radar would be a badge of pride like it is w/ nah right if anyone gave a shit about rap radar

waggin the cock and flow tit (some dude), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 18:00 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, kind of feel like with "3hunna" & "i don't like" he's in a waka post-o lets do it pre-hard in the paint/flockaveli phase, hot street rap hits but still too easy to dismiss, & for a lot of the same reasons (not lyrical enough, beats/song structures too similar)

flopson, Tuesday, 22 May 2012 19:08 (fourteen years ago)

i think 'finessin' & 'save that shit' are pretty dope but yeah, hes def got a ways to go to prove himself

littledotheyknow (D-40), Tuesday, 22 May 2012 19:45 (fourteen years ago)

Listening to Dreamchasers 2.

No idea why this Australian woman is on the intro to 'Ready or Not' - "I like this Mayback music. Sweet!" ??

:O @ this verse tho:

End of story, nigga P.S
All white Maybach Greenbay they packed
Y'all niggas was snackin' 'member the hard nights we trappin'
And they say life's a game of chess you can play checkers all on my jacket
Cause its Damier and we bombs away on y'all big rappers
I say yeah nigga I murder that Panamera inserted back
Niggas say they want beef well where the fuck is my burger at?
I got white was serving that I been to jail I ain't going back
I alley oop your bitch off that backboard she throw it back
I slamdunkin that pussy, Blake Griffin'd yo ho, nigga
Maybach with Ricky Ross my chain rock like I know Jigga
