Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:32 (fourteen years ago)

Shame, shame, shame--I cast thee out!

clemenza, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:34 (fourteen years ago)

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:35 (fourteen years ago)

with vg on "hold it". it's okay, but not one my LTI favorites.

Hold It Now is great. In my top 10.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:36 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't vote for it either. I was making a point, but I've already forgotten what it was.

clemenza, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:37 (fourteen years ago)

Hold It Now is great. In my top 10.

it is great, don't get me wrong. if was gonna vote for 10 songs off LTI, it would totally be #8.

The term or title antichrist, in Christian theology, refers to (contenderizer), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:37 (fourteen years ago)

I could've happily put all of LTI on my ballot

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:38 (fourteen years ago)

time for your nap, clemenza

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:38 (fourteen years ago)

"Hold It Now, Hit It" is my second favorite LTI track.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:41 (fourteen years ago)

what's your favorite?

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:42 (fourteen years ago)

"Rhymin' And Stealin'"

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:43 (fourteen years ago)

nice

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:43 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't vote for Hold It, tho I get the appeal. Paul Revere placed the highest from LTI for me

Roger Barfing (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:44 (fourteen years ago)

Rhymin has to be in my top 5 of all-time awesome album openers --- and one of my LTI faves

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:44 (fourteen years ago)

I'd heard "Fight For Your Right" but when I got the album and the Levee drums kicked in I was all WHOA.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

Kicks like a mule. Gets me every time.

ali baba and the 40 thieves, ali baba and the 40 thieves, ali baba and the 40 thieves, ALI BABA AND THE 40 THIEVES, ALI BABA AND THE 40 THIEVES, ALI BABA AND THE 40 THIEVES

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

I actually like Fight for Your Right more now than I did when it came out, but I really didn't like it when it came out. Took me hearing more of the album to decide they weren't no-talent jerks.

"Brass Monkey" otoh was in my top 5. On the soundtrack to countless college parties.

Hold It Now.. really predicts Paul's Boutique imo. had i heard it back in the day i doubt i'd have been startled by PB you know?

Hold It Now Hit It was my #2.

crüt, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

I had Paul Revere & Fight in my top 10 and No Sleep & Rhymin in the bottom 10. Cut the New Style and She's Crafty at the last minute, so depressing

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

my top 5 were from LTI tbh

crüt, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

listening to Rhymin' right now and it still gives me goosebumps. I am most chill cuz I'm rhymin' and stealin'.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

PISTOL IS LOADED I SHOT BETTY CROCKER
DELIVER COLONEL SANDERS DOWN TO DAVY JONES LOCKER

that line and the delivery following makes me want to break and throw things, I love it so much

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 May 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

I wouldn't give up on seeing "hold it, now hit it"

"fight for yr right" was not one of my favorite tracks on LTI, it was OK but seemed like a "she's on it" retread and, compared to the other stuff on the album, was punching below their weight. then the single hit and it became really annoying really quickly. at this point I don't hate it and get the cultural significance but also never need to hear it again.

Hold It Now is my #1, easy

thommys got bendz (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 00:32 (fourteen years ago)

oh ed you're just jealous it's the BEA STIE BOYS

ha

did you vote whiney?

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 01:18 (fourteen years ago)

it was OK but seemed like a "she's on it" retread

Perhaps. I prefer to view it as a refinement of a previously attempted style.

I mean, "Fight For Your Right" and "Girls" are barely rap songs, which is why they rank so low for me. Even alt-rock stuff like "Sabotage" and "Gratitude" have more rapping on them!

thommys got bendz (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 03:32 (fourteen years ago)

"Hold It" and "New Style" were probably the purest "of-their-era" rap songs in the entire Beasties discography, which is why its probably been sampled the most by rappers!

thommys got bendz (Whiney G. Weingarten), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 03:34 (fourteen years ago)

my appreciation of "fight for your right" has nothing to do with how rap it is or isn't. i just like it.

The term or title antichrist, in Christian theology, refers to (contenderizer), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 04:18 (fourteen years ago)

but that's me. don't suppose there's anything wrong with rapness rankings.

The term or title antichrist, in Christian theology, refers to (contenderizer), Wednesday, 16 May 2012 04:19 (fourteen years ago)

I feel like Sabotage and Gratitude have equally as much rap as FFYR, but get the rock thing so much more correct.

how's life, Wednesday, 16 May 2012 08:53 (fourteen years ago)

Cosign.
