I listened to the Screen Prints album twice last night. I'm surprised by how much I like it. I was a bit disappointed by the Claim single with 'Mrs. Shepherd', inevitable really considering what I'd heard about it. I turned down the treble on the stereo and it sounded better. I think I just need to give it more time. The other single turned out not to be available. On the Hopkirk & Lee thread, Keith said, "they had that relaxed way with a pop song," which is just right for the ep. I'm curious about which songs he likes.

5. Forever Breathes The Lonely Word lp (Felt) - I'm amazed I found this!
4a. Miss America cd (Mary Margaret O'Hara)
4b. Facing You cd (Keith Jarrett) - for my parents

McClusky >any good???

Yep. Because the songs are short and punchy.

Curt, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I was expecting something more from the McClusky...sounds very much like Pixies and Jesus Lizard in a head-on collision, with Johnny Rotten occasionally taking the mic. It's interesting, but it's probably gonna need more time to grow on me.

Sean Carruthers, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

* Masters of the Hemisphere - Celebrate a dark anniversary
* Blondie - Plastic Letters
* Modest Mouse - Sadsappysucker
* Lunchbox - Summer's Over
* Tamala Motown Gold, all the hits from the sixties (it's great!)

It's been a slow couple of months. What I have been listening to alot is Papa's Fritas "Helioself", and underated classic IMHO.

Closer Musik - After Love

Andy K, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Farben - Texstar
How is this, Andy? Is this a 12-inch? Not too familar w/ his Farben stuff. We should really start a new thread next time someone wants to post....this is getting unweildy.

Mark, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We shd start a 2nd thread on the 7th.

Textstar is a comp of the Klang Elektronik singles. I like the Farben material more than Jelinek and Gramm -- these are his most ornate and dubby productions. A different vinyl-only delux pkg called Starbox just came out too.

Andy K, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yesterday I pre-ordered (via CD-Wow) the two new Tom Waits albums, and bought Tamla Motown: Big Hits And Hard To Find Classics, Intelligence And Sacrifice by Alec Empire and 2 Many DJ's by Soulwax.

Martin Skidmore, Thursday, 2 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

last week i bought the Suzi Quatro's self titled record, a Siouxsie and the banshees record which haven't got round to listening to yet, plus Sleater-Kinney's "hot RRock" and Doublehappys "nerves" on CD.

Ned, the Luv CDs - do you mean the Dutch band?

nathalie, Friday, 3 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I haven't had the chance to listen to all of them yet, it being finals week and all... but FUCKING AYE the Soft Cell is some great stuff! "Sex Dwarf" knocks my brain outta my ear! I really like the ABC I listened to, too, though some friends were over and I didn't have it very loud. I love that sort of production so much. I can't wait to listen to the stuff in more depth, and I can't wait to hear the Simple Minds - maybe I'll put it on tonight.

Clarke B., Friday, 3 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My proverbial ship has come in! Fuck it i didn't buy them, my brother copied them for me for my birthday but I still want to put them here.

1. X-Press 2-Muzikizum-Well duh.

2. The Streets-Original Pirate Material. Friends despise it so I didn't get a chance to listen to it last night.

3. Justin Robertson-Bugged Out Mix CD-This should be called an Intro to Tech House.

4. David Holmes-Come Get It I Got It-Not listened to this yet.

5. American Gigolo mixed by Tiga.
