When the single was re-released on 6 November 1971, the new pressing was backed with "Luv n' Haight". "The Amp Got Shot in the Woofer Cause of Drugs" has not since been released or compiled, and the few known copies of the original single (the volatile toxic compounds having long ago evaporated) trade for upwards of $1,000.

fuck yeah. damn close anyway. and whether or not he did, he ought to have recorded it from bed. riot story i always heard (provenance dubious at best) is that the songs attains their softened, bleary-eyed vibe as the product of endless re-recordings on the same master. sly would bring a new girl into the studio "every night" and have her re-track this or that vocal part as part of some drug-fueled seduction routine. like check it baby, you're gonna be a star, see. stories...
