"Going to California" (Page/Plant), by Never The Bride

If 'For Love, Not Lisa' were a question, 'Never the Bride' might be the answer.

some dude, Monday, 30 April 2012 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

Not gonna lie, I would like to hear Giamatti sing Here I Go Again. The other folks can take a hike, though.

For some reason I thought I had already posted about how at CTY one summer I learned Big Empty off the OST and played/sang it acoustic at the talent show. Later that day the girl I had a crush on came over to me and said "all the girls on my floor think you have a sexy voice," -- to which the only response I could muster was a squeaky "cool!" She made a grossed-out face and walked away.

Maura on Twitter just now:

the rock of ages soundtrack is making me want to swear off music forever

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 19:58 (fourteen years ago)

Has anybody else noted that the song that Rock of Ages is named after is not in fact present on the soundtrack?

NWOBHamster (J3ff T.), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 20:18 (fourteen years ago)

they tried to get Tom Cruise to say "gunter glieben glauchen globen" and he went into a fetal position having Valkyrie flashbacks

I have a real morbid curiosity about this soundtrack.

that has to be what they're banking on tbh

Seriously, I only just found out about this abomination, and I'm so angry that I want everyone involved to be buried up to the neck in sand and then covered in marmalade and ants.

'scuse me, while I Rim the Sky... (snoball), Monday, 7 May 2012 18:11 (fourteen years ago)

i get being dismissive or lol check out this bullshit about the Rock of Ages movie but i don't really understand actual anger, unless you're especially reverent of the stage musical, or the original '80s rock songs, or think the actors would otherwise being engaged in something more dignified. as it is, i'm like whatever guys, go ahead and make a trainwreck, it's not like you were going to make anything of substance otherwise!

some dude, Monday, 7 May 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

i mean sure Baldwin has better things to do but it's not like he took a break from 30 Rock to make this movie or anything

some dude, Monday, 7 May 2012 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

haha i cant wait to hear this thing.

(Name Withheld to Avoid Hassle) (forksclovetofu), Monday, 7 May 2012 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

It's not like I think Brand/Cruise/Baldwin/et al could be doing something better with their time - probably anything they'd be involved in would be an undignified mess. And I don't care about the stage musical or the original 80's songs. It's just that I'm insulted that somebody thought that this would be entertainment. I literally just found out, so maybe the anger will wear off. Or maybe not, because of the trio of bellends involved.

'scuse me, while I Rim the Sky... (snoball), Monday, 7 May 2012 18:19 (fourteen years ago)

"natural one" is so so dope. the guitar hook alone is one of the best things that happened in the 90s.

that Nada Surf song was hella gimmicky but fairly inoffensive but it reminds me of one of the worst summers of my HS life so fuck it

i hated 'she don't use jelly' when i was 12, thought it was stupid and unserious, but i think it's pretty great now.
