Actually, I just checked and it was only $44.87 for all three shipped to the US.
― Spencer Chow, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)
I am going to play these so loud.
― Spencer Chow, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:13 (fourteen years ago)
hmmm so only 2 of these correlate with those 3 songs that leaked a while back, interesting!
― zappi, Friday, 27 April 2012 22:15 (fourteen years ago)
hmmm. don't like How Do You Do It at all.
― heavy is the head that eats the crayons (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 27 April 2012 22:20 (fourteen years ago)
thanks, spencer. just pre-ordered.
― BringTheAuBonPain, Friday, 27 April 2012 23:34 (fourteen years ago)
No problem. You might want to check US Amazon.com two days before it ships from the UK to see if the price has gone down here - though I doubt it will.
― Spencer Chow, Saturday, 28 April 2012 01:14 (fourteen years ago)
Oh man, the end of Angel is so
<3
― Mad God 40/40 (Z S), Saturday, 28 April 2012 01:21 (fourteen years ago)
why do i feel like the new mix of "angel/bilinda song" is minutely, but noticeably enough, slower? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vykf4_A9owU
― kelpolaris, Saturday, 28 April 2012 06:35 (fourteen years ago)
If it is slower, then it's entirely possible that during the original mastering somebody asked for it to be speeded up slightly, it might not have been written down in the mastering notes and/or Shields forgot during the remastering process.
― Dick Move's Wardrobe (MaresNest), Saturday, 28 April 2012 07:58 (fourteen years ago)
I guess it was a bit of a rush to get these remasters out, so it would be easy for something like that to be missed.
― Chewshabadoo, Saturday, 28 April 2012 09:08 (fourteen years ago)
yeah, can everyone ease off and give kevin shields a little more time to work on these? everything is so rushed these last 20 years!
― Mad God 40/40 (Z S), Saturday, 28 April 2012 15:33 (fourteen years ago)
has antyone got a copy of the new remasters? are they different from those 'remasters' that are all over torrent sites etc from 2008?
― piscesx, Saturday, 28 April 2012 15:36 (fourteen years ago)
Those amazon.co.uk prices are really cheap. The whole lot with shipping converts to $45.10, whereas the EPs in US Amazon alone are $28. I wonder if that's for a limited time.
― Fastnbulbous, Saturday, 28 April 2012 16:43 (fourteen years ago)
so what is up with the second disc of loveless just being loveless again?
― the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Saturday, 28 April 2012 16:57 (fourteen years ago)
the 2nd disc is remastered from the analog tapes or something.you can never have too many copies of loveless.
― BringTheAuBonPain, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:06 (fourteen years ago)
the first was loveless as you remember, the second was meant for kevin's chinchillas
― kelpolaris, Saturday, 28 April 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)
so I'm assuming if you play them both at the same time, the waveforms that are inverted cancel each other out and all that remains is the mysterious third album.
― the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Saturday, 28 April 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)
No, it's actually me going "Ah, hello, I'd like to talk to you about a very, very special album close to my heart. You might know it. It's called Loveless. First, let me set the scene." And so on for fifty minutes.

yes! it's back to them playing guitars like on the second side of isn't anything, only a step further along, with some of the sweetness they were drifting towards on tremolo, &c. it could go on forever

Whatever.
― Chewshabadoo, Monday, 30 April 2012 19:05 (fourteen years ago)
OK, actually an interesting read, now I'm halfway through.
― Chewshabadoo, Monday, 30 April 2012 19:12 (fourteen years ago)
That song is pretty awesome. Also has about 10% of the reverb modern 'MBV-influenced' bands tend to use.
― Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 30 April 2012 19:15 (fourteen years ago)
unreleased tracks are on youtube
HUH?
OMG!
tbh kinda torn b/w wanting to listen to them RIGHT NOW & waiting to get my hands on something of respectable quality. What a fantastic surprise! I honestly had no idea that there would be unreleased material included w/ the remasters (or they'd ever even happen themselves obv).
― fishermen are coveted by whores & stoners (Pillbox), Monday, 30 April 2012 19:26 (fourteen years ago)
They've been around for about 3 years anyway.
Blimey: My Bloody Valentine 20-year old demos surface?
― Chewshabadoo, Monday, 30 April 2012 20:20 (fourteen years ago)
those paragraphs about how "everything's brought up to zero" don't fill me with confidence.
― koogs, Monday, 30 April 2012 20:59 (fourteen years ago)
That's an interesting interview, especially the treatment by the record labels.
― Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 30 April 2012 21:25 (fourteen years ago)
yeah saying one of the tracks had to be a "sacrificial lamb" to get everything up to a louder volume is kinda :S
― That's a pretty funky dance, Garfield. Show me how you do it. (frogbs), Monday, 30 April 2012 21:27 (fourteen years ago)
so which remaster of loveless is better, the new one or the old one from the analog tape? is there a huge difference?
two streams
― alex in mainhattan, Tuesday, 1 May 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)
both streams are almost exactly the same loudness, the analog one seems *slightly* less compressed and easier on the ears
― diamonddave85, Tuesday, 1 May 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)
will have to withhold tru judgement until i can blast this on my stereo at home
― diamonddave85, Tuesday, 1 May 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)
heckfirehttp://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2012/may/01/my-bloody-valentine-loveless-stream
― piscesx, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 03:25 (fourteen years ago)
LITERALLY no difference on those 2 streams.
― piscesx, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 03:27 (fourteen years ago)
sure, a crappy stream of something that dude carefully remastered for one specific audio format only and to be played loud on an actual hi-fi, that'll prove lots
― ┗|∵|┓ (sic), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 03:37 (fourteen years ago)
No Cassette edition?
(I have the minidisc edition already)
― Mark G, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 08:52 (fourteen years ago)
So far it seems like the underwhelming 2008 promo leak was in fact genuine. Meh.
― Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 10:32 (fourteen years ago)
Actually, now I'm listening to it again with some A/B with the orginal CD and I think I prefer the EQ balance on these new ones, there's definitely a fuller sound, however it also seems to be quite fatiguing on my ears, but maybe I'm just listening to it too loud.
I haven't actually listened to the album for a couple of years at least and I was beginning to think I may have overrated it, but it's still pretty amazing.
― Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 11:52 (fourteen years ago)
Shields says the 2008 leak was unfinished
― ┗|∵|┓ (sic), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 12:41 (fourteen years ago)
In order to hear the difference you have to play it at top volume through the band's PA.
Kevin Shields remastering the records seems about as reliable as Neil Young doing it. Dude's own hearing has probably had a few dBs rolled off, if you follow me.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 13:00 (fourteen years ago)
however it also seems to be quite fatiguing on my ears
yeah I don't think a stream like this will really be helpful to judge - everything hurts at 128k
― Brakhage, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 17:19 (fourteen years ago)
the remastered EPs sound very very good. nice to have a reason to listen to all these tracks again anyway.

― bark ruffalo (latebloomer), Monday, 7 May 2012 03:26 (fourteen years ago)
Bilinda sounds louder/ clearer on the EPs.
― piscesx, Monday, 7 May 2012 03:36 (fourteen years ago)
So any idea what is actually coming out in the U.S.? I've seen the EP collection available for pre-order at Amazon, but neither of the other two remasters are.
― heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 7 May 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)
Haha oh wait, the Loveless remaster is an import for now. $66. Ugh.
― heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 7 May 2012 15:05 (fourteen years ago)
Only $52 for the Isn't Anything remaster though.
I ordered direct from Amazon UK (I didn't realize you could place orders using your US account) - I think it was less than twenty bucks shipped to the US. Should be here in a week or so
― Brakhage, Monday, 7 May 2012 17:20 (fourteen years ago)
it's just so bizarre to me that there is not a single mention online of a US release. i keep hearing may 15th tossed around but somehow i think sony wants to build up anticipation beyond just a week - well, anticipation in context of announce date to release date. they've sort been waited on for the past decade and a half.
― kelpolaris, Monday, 7 May 2012 17:26 (fourteen years ago)
fwiw, Amazon lists June 5th for the U.S. release of the expensive ass import versions. the fairly priced EPs collection is listed as May 15th.
― heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 7 May 2012 17:39 (fourteen years ago)
Not sure why anyone would wait. Just order from Amazon.co.uk. Around $15 each shipped.
