If it is slower, then it's entirely possible that during the original mastering somebody asked for it to be speeded up slightly, it might not have been written down in the mastering notes and/or Shields forgot during the remastering process.

I guess it was a bit of a rush to get these remasters out, so it would be easy for something like that to be missed.

yeah, can everyone ease off and give kevin shields a little more time to work on these? everything is so rushed these last 20 years!

has antyone got a copy of the new remasters? are they different from those 'remasters' that are all over torrent sites etc from 2008?

Those amazon.co.uk prices are really cheap. The whole lot with shipping converts to $45.10, whereas the EPs in US Amazon alone are $28. I wonder if that's for a limited time.

the 2nd disc is remastered from the analog tapes or something.

the first was loveless as you remember, the second was meant for kevin's chinchillas

so I'm assuming if you play them both at the same time, the waveforms that are inverted cancel each other out and all that remains is the mysterious third album.

That song is pretty awesome. Also has about 10% of the reverb modern 'MBV-influenced' bands tend to use.

tbh kinda torn b/w wanting to listen to them RIGHT NOW & waiting to get my hands on something of respectable quality. What a fantastic surprise! I honestly had no idea that there would be unreleased material included w/ the remasters (or they'd ever even happen themselves obv).

They've been around for about 3 years anyway.

yeah saying one of the tracks had to be a "sacrificial lamb" to get everything up to a louder volume is kinda :S

so which remaster of loveless is better, the new one or the old one from the analog tape? is there a huge difference?

two streams

both streams are almost exactly the same loudness, the analog one seems *slightly* less compressed and easier on the ears

will have to withhold tru judgement until i can blast this on my stereo at home

sure, a crappy stream of something that dude carefully remastered for one specific audio format only and to be played loud on an actual hi-fi, that'll prove lots

So far it seems like the underwhelming 2008 promo leak was in fact genuine. Meh.

Actually, now I'm listening to it again with some A/B with the orginal CD and I think I prefer the EQ balance on these new ones, there's definitely a fuller sound, however it also seems to be quite fatiguing on my ears, but maybe I'm just listening to it too loud.

I haven't actually listened to the album for a couple of years at least and I was beginning to think I may have overrated it, but it's still pretty amazing.

In order to hear the difference you have to play it at top volume through the band's PA.

Kevin Shields remastering the records seems about as reliable as Neil Young doing it. Dude's own hearing has probably had a few dBs rolled off, if you follow me.

yeah I don't think a stream like this will really be helpful to judge - everything hurts at 128k

the remastered EPs sound very very good. nice to have a reason to listen to all these tracks again anyway.

Bilinda sounds louder/ clearer on the EPs.

So any idea what is actually coming out in the U.S.? I've seen the EP collection available for pre-order at Amazon, but neither of the other two remasters are.

Haha oh wait, the Loveless remaster is an import for now. $66. Ugh.

Only $52 for the Isn't Anything remaster though.

I ordered direct from Amazon UK (I didn't realize you could place orders using your US account) - I think it was less than twenty bucks shipped to the US. Should be here in a week or so

it's just so bizarre to me that there is not a single mention online of a US release. i keep hearing may 15th tossed around but somehow i think sony wants to build up anticipation beyond just a week - well, anticipation in context of announce date to release date. they've sort been waited on for the past decade and a half.

fwiw, Amazon lists June 5th for the U.S. release of the expensive ass import versions. the fairly priced EPs collection is listed as May 15th.

Not sure why anyone would wait. Just order from Amazon.co.uk. Around $15 each shipped.
