There's also the Avalanches, Kylie Minogue, Bee Gees, the Church, Radio Birdman, the Triffids, the Go-Betweens, Dead Can Dance, the Necks...

Friends of Mr Caeiro (NickB), Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

Australia could easily have its own poll, but I'm not sure NZ could...it would be more fruitful to poll them together.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

also it would hilariously make some people really mad to do that

lathe darkman (some dude), Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:18 (fourteen years ago)

^ this :D

yuppie bullshit chocolate blogbait (contenderizer), Thursday, 19 April 2012 21:23 (fourteen years ago)

^ cosigning.

Personal preference would be a separate Church poll but I'm that crazy of a fan. Too bad I'd be the only one voting in a Saints/Ed Kuepper poll.

ugh, shd have img tagged that whatever

anyway i would vote an all Men At Work/Whitlams ballot but it could be a fun poll!

Doctor Casino, Friday, 20 April 2012 03:01 (fourteen years ago)

so should I wait for the Kinks results to finish rolling out before I start the Depeche Mode poll?

Hoo Nu Cookies (crüt), Saturday, 21 April 2012 23:10 (fourteen years ago)

Not necessarily -- there's usually been a day or two of overlap. I hope you get a good turnout! I don't know diddly about DM myself.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Saturday, 21 April 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

Can I claim an Outkast poll?

hologram ned raggett (The Reverend), Saturday, 21 April 2012 23:30 (fourteen years ago)

Sure, you're in at 55. I'll add you next time I post the whole list. I don't want to post the whole thing too often -- makes scrolling through it all obnoxious.

I might go under the hood one of these days and edit out the long list in posts more than a month old.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Saturday, 21 April 2012 23:53 (fourteen years ago)

I Said I'd Write A Ballot, But I Never Got The Time -- ILM Artist Poll #18 -- DEPECHE MODE (voting thread)

Hoo Nu Cookies (crüt), Sunday, 22 April 2012 00:21 (fourteen years ago)

rev that would be p fun

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 22 April 2012 06:53 (fourteen years ago)

i'm Australian and would be totally cool with Aus and NZ being lumped together for a poll. in fact, i think it would work out well.

charlie h, Sunday, 22 April 2012 07:31 (fourteen years ago)

And after that, we can do poll of all music by Canadians

Lee626, Sunday, 22 April 2012 15:14 (fourteen years ago)

Bee Gees?

Naive Teen Idol, Sunday, 22 April 2012 15:37 (fourteen years ago)

I would totally vote in a Bee Gees poll. Good to read Robin Gibb's health improving.

Lee626, Tuesday, 24 April 2012 00:42 (fourteen years ago)

NTI, are you volunteering for Bee Gees or hoping someone else steps forward?

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Tuesday, 24 April 2012 02:40 (fourteen years ago)

I just did a bunch of edits and post deletions to make this thread a lot easier to scroll through in case anyone cares about rereading it. Where it was just the master list, I've deleted the post, and where there was other chat, I've edited the list out. I didn't start messing with it until posts from August, when the list started getting long and unwieldy.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Tuesday, 24 April 2012 03:34 (fourteen years ago)

I would -- but I'm not sure I know enough of their post-breakup or post disco stuff to do it.

Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 25 April 2012 00:11 (fourteen years ago)

i wouldn't have time to coordinate a bee gees poll, but somebody needs to do it.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Wednesday, 25 April 2012 02:27 (fourteen years ago)

also for dylan we should probably list the top 100, not top 50.

Ditto disco.

This is my feeling as well.

Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:34 (fourteen years ago)

I agree with this, and ditto Miles. I'll probably expand ballots to 30 tracks for him and results to 75-80.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Wednesday, 25 April 2012 03:44 (fourteen years ago)

i think that for the bee gees it'd be fun to allow gibb bros songs recorded by folks other than the BGs. for dylan that would become a mess really quickly, though.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Wednesday, 25 April 2012 04:25 (fourteen years ago)

and also Andy imo

Lee626, Wednesday, 25 April 2012 06:58 (fourteen years ago)

can someone re-upload the spreadsheet template FFM made? the megaupload + sendspace links are both down.

pizza pizza and cult jam (crüt), Sunday, 29 April 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

Sure...I just emailed a copy to the DM ballot address in the meantime.

Would it be OK to put the 'up-to-date list' on the first message? I know it's a bit 'naughty' but when the list goes into the 'Skipping' void, we end up either having to ask for the list to be reposted, or load 1000+ messages and scrolling through.

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2012 09:59 (fourteen years ago)

That's a thought...I'd rather not do it that way, but it's a thought. It's a bit more of a pain to edit posts than to submit them. I'll try to remember to keep an updated revised list on the outside of The Void, but if I forget and the list keeps dropping in, your suggestion is a good one.

(the list in progress)

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Monday, 30 April 2012 12:34 (fourteen years ago)

Had a brief thought that a ballot poll of live albums might be interesting, but the results might be a little predictable. Whadda y'all think?

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 14:59 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think it'd be that predictable, actually, so long as the voting base is large enough that there's a diversity of opinion.

Neil Young’s social media channels (some dude), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)

Five of the next six of these will be of extreme interest to me. Looking forward to a hot summer.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 15:09 (fourteen years ago)

Whoa, Neil Young is going to be a tough row to hoe.

grandavis, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

thankfully Bruce, Stax and Pink Floyd polls are spaced far enough apart so as not to kill me dead. But omg

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

A bad pun is close enough. What musical ballot poll would tempt you to vote, Herr Doktor?

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 16:22 (fourteen years ago)

Arcade Fire

how's life, Wednesday, 2 May 2012 16:26 (fourteen years ago)

I am inexpert on most bands' oeuvres, even the ones I like. Also, I don't care to spend the time. I might vote on HuDu if I, you know, stop reviewing films.

Still have never heard the Grammy-winning AF album.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

I'd claim expertise on only one musical artist, and ain't no way in hell I'd start a ballot poll for him.

improvised explosive advice (WmC), Wednesday, 2 May 2012 16:37 (fourteen years ago)

clue!
